Review: The Sweetest Thing by Jill Shalvis

The Sweetest Thing
(Lucky Harbor #2)
by Jill Shalvis

The Sweetest Thing was such a treat to read. The second book in the Lucky Harbor series features Tara Daniels, the southern girl and the eldest of the three sisters. She is known as the steel magnolia because of her anal-retentive ways and slight egotistical manner. It’s her way or the highway.

But easy-going Ford Walker walks back into her life and suddenly Tara doesn’t seem capable of handling her life as well as she thought she could. Especially in the presence of someone so deliciously sexy.

Ford Walker is the man of my dreams. He’s the resident hottie at Lucky Harbor and is adored for more than his stunning good looks. With a killer personality and an equally killer bod, Tara must use all her defenses to keep her away from Ford.

In the first book of the series, Simply Irresistible, readers are introduced to Tara and Ford and their secret past. While it doesn’t take a genius to figure out the story arc for this next book, I thought Shalvis did a very good job in working towards Tara and Ford’s story.

A younger, wilder version of Tara haunted Ford for seventeen years when Tara left Lucky Harbor for a better life. But when she returns, Ford doesn’t want to lose her twice. It takes him awhile to fight for what he wants since he is a man who is used to having things fall into place for him. But when someone as great as Tara crosses your path, Ford knows when to take that leap.

Not to mention that Tara’s ex-husband, Logan Perrish, the sexy NASCAR champ has come to small town Lucky Harbor to get his wife back. The odd thing about Logan is that HE IS SO NICE! I had a very hard time not liking him, which makes things so much harder for Ford because Logan is a solid guy as well.

Now the question is, who is Tara Daniels going to pick? Her old flame or her rock?

Shalvis has a unique way of creating such memorable characters. You can’t help but love them all. And in addition to that, their witty dialogue adds more appeal to an already enjoyable read.

There is something so loveable about Shalvis’s characters. They leap of the pages as if they were telling you their story themselves and once you flip that last page, you wonder how on earth did you get so sucked into a book? It seems that Shalvis just has that golden touch. The Sweetest Thing was a pleasure to read.

I thought I loved Jax but, sorry...I think Ford is the man for me. Although, I wouldn’t be claiming anyone just yet. It seems that Sawyer, the third musketeer and bad-boy-with-a –gun may be a good catch too! I’ll have to read Head Over Heels, Chloe and Sawyer’s book next to find out!

  2. Tara has a big decision to make and I can see how this would blow the circuits on an anal gal like that. This does sound good. I'm hearing all around good things about the whole series.

    Thanks for the review.
