If You See Her
by Shiloh Walker
(The Ash Trilogy # 2)
Being back in Ash, Kentucky is such a treat. This book, and this whole series really, is bound to keep you on the edge of your seat (or bed), biting your nails and wondering what will happen next. What a thrill!
What can you expect to find in this series? Strong characters that have a lot of obstacles to overcome while dealing with a serial killer on the loose (or is it more than one?).
Remy Jennings, the lawyer, is still investigating the events that unfolded at Law Reilly's home. His main suspect is Hope Carson. The mousy looking girl that seemed to be scared of everything. How could she have killed a deputy and attacked her best friend. This is for Remy to try and find out.
Hope on the other hand is starting to feel a bit more comfortable in her own skin. After escaping the clutches of her abusive husband she is starting to figure out who she is without his control. And doing a great job at it. Still a bit scared but trying to establish her independence and taking baby steps on feeling like a woman.
So the romance? It took some time for these two to get things moving in that direction, as I noticed it was at least 10% into the book and their interactions were pretty minimal. However, once they both admitted that they wanted to try and give it a go I thought they made the cutest couple. Dare I say I liked them more than Ezra and Lena. Maybe. Hope is for sure my favorite heroine in the series so far.
And the suspense? Ms. Walker can do this better than most! Even though this story was a bit slower it didn't take away from the developing storyline. I still can't figure out who the killer is. This is unheard of for me. I love it. But I am ready to know.
And while we are in the subject of the killer... we see a different side to him in this book. Maybe this was just me, but he seemed a bit more human and like he actually had feelings inside of his sick, demented mind.
I also enjoyed getting to know Nia Hollister. She seems like such a kick ass chick but there's got to be so much more in her past. I have so many questions about her and I really can't wait to see her with Law. They are bound to be explosive together.
Can't you tell I'm excited to read If You Know Her??
