Battle of the Covers: Cheesiest Historical Romance Covers!

In honor of our Historical Romance event, A SCANDALOUS AFFAIR, we are changing things up for this month's edition of Battle of the Covers! Instead of the usual USA vs. UK covers, we are going to be voting for the Cheesiest Historical Romance cover because face it, there were a lot of them that were very, very embarrassing to look at!

These covers have been getting better over the years but we'd like to go back in time a little bit to remember some of these godawful covers that ooze passion, seduction and love! Vote for your favorite cheesiest cover now!

  3. Hey, I like that TENDER IS THE STORM cover in which the hero is totally nekkid (with that bush tickling his butt) but the heroine isn't. Her arms though.... *shakes head*

  6. WOW! That 'Tender the Storm' looks like something that should be in porn! if he lubed those puppies up he could have a good time!

But as for the cheesiest...It's gotta be the one with the highlander on the front....she's all swooning at his masculinity! LOL too hilarious!

    They're ALL pretty bad!

  7. I would think that the nakedness of Tender is the Storm would be a plus--if I didn't worry about the brush going where it shouldn't on even a "manly man"!

  10. lol, I remember when Tender is the Storm came out. I had to use one of those book covers so people wouldn't see it. I did and still do enjoy her books.

  14. Lol it was a toss up between To Tame a Highland Warrior and Tender is the Storm. Now if they took the woman on the Highland one and the man on Storm one...that would top the cake. So glad covers aren't like that any more. Now we have Pickyme ♥

  16. Is it so wrong that I actually like some of these covers, like Master of Desire? LOL

As for Tender is the Storm...OMG, LOL! I can't beleive a paperback like that actually made it into book stores, especially sometime in the 80's or 90's! I mean, he's practically getting it on with her breasts...right on the cover.

  17. Some of those gals would give Rapunzel a run for her money with all that hair. And those poses! I remember using a book cover so I would not get teased for my reading choices. What a hoot!
