This week's question:
How do you go about reviewing 1 or 2 star books or books you didn't enjoy?

Our Answer:

We all pretty much deal with it the same, so to sum it up...

We look at the good and the bad of a book. Even though you may have not enjoyed a book because of the events that happen in it, or the language used, or the characters themselves, you may have liked the author's writing style or voice. So even though a book may have not worked for us, there is a great chance that it will work for another. Sometimes some of us may have saved up a lot of frustration if a book has pissed us off enough so we can get a little rant-ey and sarcastic. The most important thing is to always be respectful of the author.

Sometimes people tend to shy away from writing a bad review, but a lot of times a bad review can sell a book as well.  What didn't work for you might be just what works for someone else.

Now it's your turn!

  2. I couldn't agree more.
I understand why some bloggers decide to only post reviews 3-5 stars, but I'm not one of them.
I want to review (not promote) books.
    Happy Thursday!

  3. Great answer! I have to go on a rant a little too if I really didn't like the review. It can't be helped.

  6. I avoid bad mouthing books that I do not really care for. I try to remain neutral. This is something someone has put their heart and soul in to and I just do not feel right saying negative things no matter how much I may not have enjoyed it.

  7. I agree with Cindy. Overall being neutral is probably the best option.
