Lover Reborn
by J.R. Ward
Black Dagger Brotherhood #10
We are now on the tenth Black Dagger Brotherhood book and I still love this series as much as I did when I started Dark Lover, for me this series never gets old. When I first started reading though I never though Tohrment would need a book of his own, he already had his shellan, Wellsie, but shit happens and Tohr is now drowning in his own grief, which is not only killing himself, but is preventing Wellsie and his son from going to the Fade. Which, brings us to Lassiter's mission: Get Tohr over Wellsie so she can move on to the Fade. Could No'One be the answer?
It was such a tradegy when Wellsie died, I remember reading it, dreading Tohr's reaction when he found out, then sobbing like a girl when he did. So when I received Lover Reborn through the post I was both excited to see what would happen, how Tohr and No'One would connect and also anxious I mean Tohr and Wellsie just fit so well together how could No'One possibly live up to that? After having read it, I still have mixed feelings, this romance is so different from the others, vastly more complicated, more mature and though I was very pleased in the end sometimes it was painful to read their progression. Mainly I think because I am not a huge fan of No'One she is like a vampire doormat, her placid and accepting nature annoyed the shit out of me, although I know that is she had been any more aggressive the romance wouldn't have happened in the first place. So you see; mixed feelings.
But, although the couple wasn't my favourite what I adored about this book was the Band of Bastards. Love. Them. They have their very own Brotherhood which is both darker and more violent then the original and they are definietly stepping up their game in their bid to put Xcor on the throne. The face off between B.o.B and the Brotherhood is going to be explosive and even more tense because I like characters from both sides, one of the reasons I am jonesing for the next book is so I can see more of them. Also...Love Triangle Alert involving Throe, Xcor and a certain unnamed female....
Qhuinn and Blay Update. Man people are going to be pissed at some of the developments in this book, but how the last chapter ended with those two...we need the Qhuay book. NOW.
I loved this book, the romance wasn't particularly my favourite but there are so many other things to love about it and all I can't think about right now is getting my hands on the next book in the series.
I'm excited and dreading reading this book at the same time. I was really upset when Wellsie died so I'm not too sure how I feel about Tohr having a new shellan.
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to read this!
ReplyDeleteYou have me a little worried now. The last book didn't live up to the usual great BDB books and now it sounds like this one might be right in line with Manny's :(
ReplyDeleteWell, I stayed up until 2AM waiting for my Kindle copy, since something seems to be wrong with the audiobook.
ReplyDeleteI'm on the 6th chapter now and I'm putting it down, not because is bad, but because is soooo good... and I want Jim to read to me, so I'll wait.
I love the review!!! I think the last book was the same when it came to main couple ( not the best) nevertheless, I still loooved the book, just like you say here....for everything that goes on in the BDB world.
what!!!! what happen with blay and qhuinn?????? can't you give me hints??? please.....
ReplyDeleteThanks for the review! Payne and Manny's story didn't do it for me. But overall it was a good read because of everything else that happened. Sounds like this one may be the same.
ReplyDeleteI kind of have a love hate relationship with these books. One of the things I hate are the names. Good grief, they're getting stupider and stupider.
ReplyDeleteI'm with a couple of other commenters, Manny and Payne's book definitely didn't do it for me and after John Matthews and Xhex's book I'm this close to giving up. If it weren't for Qhuinn and Blay....
I am quite disappointed in your review. Could you have waited at least a week before posting your comment. I have not received my book and I want to be surprised. Just a suggestion, since this book is so highly anticipated.
ReplyDeleteI am behind reading this series and still have to read book 9 but I am curious as to how things are going to work out....nice review!
ReplyDeleteThank you for being brave enough to read this first. I'm with you, I didn't like No'one very much, and thought Thor deserved so much more. But also like you, I will read it to get my fix of the Brothers! :)
ReplyDeleteI am looking forward to read this book. Can't wait to read it. Must have it!!!!!
ReplyDeleteWellsie dying was a heartbreaker for Tohr and John. I love the way J R has woven Tohr's well , torment throughout some of the books. NoÓne is a little different to read. Phury has his Shellan who in ways is similar to NoOne even though still different. I do like it being very difficult for Tohr. I am missing Butch, cause I love that guy. It is Tohr's book, so I just have to suffer..hehe!!
ReplyDeleteI am reading slowly as I am savouring the book.

I took off work Tuesday to get ths book, even though I already oederd my signed copy from the Wardens book store. I always buy a copy on release day. Thats my sharing book. My signed copy does not get opened.
ReplyDeleteI finished it last night trying to savor every word and make it last.
OMG, OMG!!! I love J.R. Ward!!! She went beyond in this book for Thor and NoOne. I was nervous about how a male of worth could come to terms with his females passing and accept a new love in his life. I should never had an ounce of doubt this astonishing author, artist and poet. She got the job done. The sub stories have me doubled over in pain with the thought of having to wait a year for the next book. OMG, OMG !!! It is going to be great!!! Blay and Quinn!!!! Quinn and Layla!!! and Those dirty "Band of Basterds" there is so much to look forward to. Oh the agony!!
