Review: Wild Man by Kristen Ashley

Law Man
by Kristen Ashley
Dream Man #2
3.5 Feathers

Good job Tess O'Hara doesn't sleep naked. After being woke up in the middle of the night by the DEA who suspect her or helping out her ex-husband's drug empire, being caught naked would have been the icing on the cake. When she finally escapes though, her horrible night turns into a hellish one when she sees the man she has been dating for four months and thinks she might just be in love with with his DEA badge and realizes he has been playing her.

But Brock Lucas hasn't been playing her, he knew after an hour in her company that Tess had nothing to do with her ex-husbands illegal activities and he is determined to show her that although she may not have known his real name, what they had was very real.

Before I begin, I think y'all need to know that I before I started this review I bought the next book in this series and once I have finished the review I will probably sit and read Law Man in one sitting and then read some more of her books. But having said that I need to get some things about this book off my lovely bosom. It managed to make me love it, and yet annoy the crap out of me all at once! Which, now that I think about it, it was kind of how I felt about Tess and Brock as well.

Now Tess & Brock, what annoyed me about them was how damn perfect they were! Now Tess, my eyes hurt from all the eye rolling I was doing, she was so damn sweet that my teeth ache. For example, Brock's brother comes round and has a go at him for changing stuff like moving from his shitty apartment in a rough neighbourhood and changing careers to a slightly less dangerous one, so when Tess hears this instead of doing the normal thing and telling his brother to piss off and stop being an arsehole, she has a go at Brock for changing himself and his life when he promised her he wouldn't. I mean WTF? It made me laugh and gag at the same time. Not that I didn't like her, I did, maybe I am being mean, but being around that much perfection makes me bitchy! As for Brock...I admit he was hot, he was a little wild and was all about protecting what we his. Okay he may not have evolved from he whole prehistoric, MY WOMAN thing, but I did find it sexy, so I am not complaining (too much).

I also wasn't a massive fan of the writing, it was a little weird things would get repeated for example (and this isn't a quote from the book)

And when he said he liked peanut butter M&Ms he meant he liked peanut butter M&Ms. He wanted to cover his sweet Tess's body with them and nibble them off, as in nibble suck and lick them till all was left was her quivering peanut butter scented body.

I found them repeating what they said in the next sentence a little annoying.

But like I said at the beginning I did like this and I have bought the next one, they were sweet and sexy, and despite the characters being a little OTT, I did have a great time reading about them.

Note to self: Buy some PB M&Ms.
