ARC Review: A Scandalous Scot by Karen Ranney

3.5 Feathers
A Scandalous Scott
by Karen Ranney

Set in mid 1800s in Scotland, this love story is about an Earl and a Maid in his ancestral castle after five years of absence. SCANDALOUS indeed but the scandal came even before they have met each other.

Morgan MacCraig had finally come home to Scotland after five years of living in London with his wife, now EX-wife. It is within his rights to divorce but no one dare to ask what happened to him in London. Except for a witty, ghost-hunting maid whom he ran into (literally).

Jean MacDonald is not without secrets or scandal in her past. She and her sister, Catriona was taken in by her aunt to work as a maid in Ballindair Castle. Though as simple looking as Jean is, she is smart, well educated and one with a good heart. And because of those reasons, she unintentionally captured an Earl's heart.

This book reminded me of the movie Maid in Manhattan with Jennifer Lopez. A simple maid thriving to do what she does to the very best of her ability had met her knight with shining armor. And like wise for the knight, finding the one to save him from his lonely existence.

Morgan and Jean were perfect for each other. They were funny, sweet and complimented one another. Though they were pushed together by an unfortunate event, their romance was not rushed. and their story warmed my heart.

Ms. Ranney had me laugh out loud, sigh with approval, annoyed at the villains, and cheered for the hero and heroine. This is a very charming love story and I would recommend it to anyone seeking a great, feel-good novel to delve into.

  1. Good review! I don't think I've ever read anything by Karen Ranney but I'm adding this to my wishlist. I like "feel good" romance for the dark days...lol
