Interview and Giveaway with Pamela Palmer!

UTC After Dark brings to you, Paranormal Romance author Pamela Palmer! Pamela is the author of the Feral Warriors series that has just released it's latest book, Ecstasy Untamed. This is book six in the series and stars of the book are Faith and Hawke! To learn more about this series and Pamela, please visit her website here.

Thank you, Pamela for taking part in UTC After Dark! We are thrilled to have you! Ecstasy Untamed is book six in the Feral Warriors series. There's a little complication between Hawke, the hero of the book and Faith, a Therian. His name is Maxim. I sense some trouble. What's rolling through Hawke's mind on all this?

Oh, there are definitely complications! Hawke pretty much falls for Faith the first time he sees her… when she arrives at Feral House on the arm of the newest Feral Warrior, Maxim. This might not be quite such a problem for one of the others, but Hawke is one of the genuinely good guys. He’s all warrior, all alpha male, but he watches out for others and is particularly protective of women and kids. And he’s incredibly honorable. So no way is he going to make a move on another Feral’s woman even though he hates the way Maxim treats her. But he has nothing better to offer her. His connection with his animal had been damaged and he’s losing control of the wildness inside him, which makes him very dangerous. The last thing he’d ever want to do is hurt Faith.

What would you say is Hawke's best quality? What would you say he needs to work on?

Hawke is kindness personified and extremely honorable. What he needs to work on is his relationship with his animal, the hawk spirit, which he’s never truly been one with. It’s the only way he’s going to be able to save them both.

Your heroines are very strong-willed. How easy (or difficult) is it to find a heroine that suits each one of the Feral Warriors? How do you make sure that dynamic works between the two characters?

I know these Ferals extremely well by now and have a pretty clear idea of what (or who) they need to make their lives richer and more complete. Finding the woman who will force that change is usually pretty clear to me. Paenther’s hatred for the Mage has just about ruined his life, so of course he has to get caught up with a Mage witch worthy of his love, if he can just get past his hatred. Jag needs a woman strong enough to kick his sorry butt. And Hawke? Let me just say that Faith is exactly what he needs, but I’m not going to tell you why for fear of spoiling the story for you.

Will we see any female Ferals?

Yes. ; )

In your Feral Warriors world, you have a unique blend on shifters, mages and Therians. Why did you choose these three "races"?

Well, the Therians were once all shifters. The Feral Warriors are the nine who still have the power of their animal, the only shifters left in the world. The primary enemy of the Therians and shifters are the Mage, but long ago, they banded together to defeat the Daemons. Now, the Mage are trying to free the Daemons (no one is sure why) and all hell is going to break loose if the Ferals can’t stop them. That’s the scenario I envisioned when the series first came to me, though I did leave the door open for other races. In one of the first books someone says there used to be others, but they’re all extinct. In Book 4 (actually my Hearts Untamed novella in the Bitten By Cupid anthology), the Ilinas are introduced, one of those ‘extinct’ races that actually still exists.

Would you consider your books to be plot driven or character driven? Do you believe you can have one without the other?

That’s a good question. My books are generally very fast paced and very plot-heavy. There’s always something going on. But the characters are absolutely driving all that action. Yes, I do believe you can have one without the other, but I’m not sure I could write that way. I love plot, and I always have a ton of it, but characters are the heart of the story.

On your website, you have a list of both your favorite paranormal authors. If you could spend the day with another author and pick their brain, who would you like to hang out with?

I’d probably say Karen Marie Moning. I’m in awe of her Fever series. What a fabulous story.

Good choice! We adore her too! If you had the ability to shift, what would you like to shift into?

A bird of some kind. Maybe a hawk. I’ve always had a fascination with flying, perhaps because my dad was an air force pilot for over thirty years. The closest I’ve ever come was parasailing, but I love heights and would absolutely love to be able to take wing and fly on my own.

Your heroes have such unique names- Lyon, Jag, Wulfe. They are definitely memorable and sexy! Do you feel like you're running out of sexy Feral names? What's one name you would NEVER find in the Feral Warriors world? Something like Ox, maybe? Nah, you could probably make that be sexy too.

Thanks! There’s actually a very logical reason for the animal names, which is explained in Ecstasy Untamed. I’m pretty sure there will never be a Mouse. Or a Chipmunk. Then again, this story is constantly taking turns I haven’t foreseen, so I suppose I’d better never say ‘never’. I guess we’ll have to see!

Thank you for the interview!

They are called Feral Warriors—an elite band of immortals who can change shape at will. Sworn to rid the world of evil, consumed by sorcery and seduction, their wild natures are primed for release . . .

Kara MacAllister's quiet small-town life is transformed forever the night a powerful stranger rips her from her home, claiming she is the chosen one—the key to his survival.

Spiriting her away into the rain-soaked night, Lyon reveals a truth Kara can barely credit. She's immortal, and the only one who can save his race. And deep within her, he arouses a fierce, primal hunger beyond anything she's ever imagined.

But only when their lives are threatened by an ancient evil will Kara and Lyon realize they have found a love they would risk their immortal souls to claim . . . and a powerful desire that could never, ever be tamed.

Pamela is giving away TWO SIGNED COPIES OF DESIRE UNTAMED, the first book in the Feral Warriors series!

I am always awed when an author creates their own fantasy world and good characters and plot to make it even more fascinating. I look forward to reading about Faith and Hawke.
