Interview and Giveaway with Stacey Thompson - Geer and Stevie Trinity!

Today on Under the Covers, we have Stacey Thompson - Geer and Stevie Trinity! Maidens, please join me in welcoming them!

Stacey and Stevie are here to speak about their co-authored book, DARK MAGICK the first in the Gatekeepers series! Here is the blurb:
The world has changed, we have changed. The world we once knew has fallen away and left us in a wasteland of Magick. Powerful witches and underworld gods control our lives. The past comes back in ways we are not prepared for. The Gatekeepers are our only hope. The question is if we can get to them first.
For more information on the Gatekeepers series, please visit their website here.

UTC: First things first, thank you so much for stopping by today! Now, let’s get started, shall we? Has writing always interested you? What made you wish to become a writer?

Stevie: Well I started to write when I was about 14, I met a teacher that was concerned with my serious depression issues and taught me how to write out what I felt. I wrote a lot of poetry. Later I started to write books to escape my issues growing at home, then my writing sat on a shelf, or in a box for a lot of years, until recently.

Stacey: I started writing when I was in Jr High. Horror was were I started and stayed for a long time. When I got a bit older, I took a creative writing class that forced me to look at other genres. Everything I write has a dark hint to it, even if it's just a past issue the characters have to deal with.
I don't know that I really knew I wanted to write until I started in the freelance world. I wrote some articles and it took off. That was almost six years ago. A couple of years ago, I decided to try bringing back the fiction writing and haven't looked back.

UTC: Describe a typical writing day for you.

Stevie: LOL well! I am a mom,I work two jobs, and I am very involved with my kids, so writing is something I try to squeeze in when I get a chance, or when Stacey reminds me I have a dead line! LOL

Stacey: I try to write everyday, but it can be hard. My day usually starts with articles and then I do all the online stuff. Once that's out of the way, I write on the next project. Of course it doesn't always work that way, but I try.

UTC: What must-have item do you need to write (pen, music, etc)?

Stevie: Music, I love music. And the dryer really seems to help me. So I make sure I am running laundry when I am writing.

Stacey: I like to have music some of the time, but I find it changes the tone of my writing depending on what type of music I'm listening to. I have a really good habit of blocking out noise when it comes to my kids TV programs too.

UTC: What made you decide to write paranormal books?

Stevie: I am a huge fan of paranormal anyway, but I have had some very strong and powerful experiences with paranormal events in my life that just logically would lead to me writing something like this! :)

Stacey: I write what I feel and this was just something I felt. I don't always write in one genre, but this story was something that kept picking at my brain, so to speak.

UTC: How did the idea of the Gatekeepers series form in your mind? What was the inspiration behind the series?

Stevie: HAHAHAHAHA............ it started with dreams and about a year of talking about these dreams. Stacey and I lived by one another to begin with, and we talked almost daily about how we felt about things, then one day when we were talking about it Stacey said this would make a great book. I was like yea, I would read a book like that, then she suggested we co-write together, I was far more reluctant to that idea. So it took about another 6 months of suggesting it, until she finally called me and said we need to write this book together and I said yes, I agree with you! And that is where it started, the world really formed on its own, and sometimes it is shocking and surprising to each of us, on how the other turns the world.

Stacey: I have a crazy mind and when we started talking about these two women, the world and the ideas started to flow. We really saw the world and the stories of these two well before we wrote it and before we decided we were going to do anything like this book. It was just too different not to put it on paper.

UTC: If you could collaborate with any author, who would you choose and why?

Stevie: I have collaborated with an Author, From the sounds of how hard it is to co write I wouldn't want to co write with any one else, at least with Stacey i know I can call her up and say” Ummmm..... ya I think this isn't what we are going for” and that goes the other way too, She has called me and told me she doesn't like what I wrote. You have to really keep an open mind, and be very honest, even brash at times! LOL And if your feelings get hurt you have to get over it! She and I do pretty good together anyway! :)

Stacey: I have never thought about co-writing anything. It's hard sometimes and it has to be a combined effort. Sometimes I'm too pushy with the book and Stevie has to tell me to stop bugging her so she can write, lol. I like to be busy and when I'm excited about a story, I just want to keep going till it's done.

UTC: Is there an author or a particular book that has influence you and your writing?

Stevie: you know I really don't know how I would answer this question. I think Life has influenced me to write this way. Most of the books I read growing up were either horror or classics. I actually read very little fantasy.

Stacey: My favorite authors are Stephen King and Alexander Dumas. I know, crazy combination. I think both have influenced my writing a little, but I also know that my tone is faster than a lot books, but that's just how I write. My brain doesn't want to stop, lol.

UTC: What is the worst thing about writing for you? The best?

Stevie: The worst thing is, I don't want it to feel like a job, I want it to stay something I really love. And I want it to go well. The best thing about it is that I get to create amazing people and worlds right out of my mind, and I can make them as bad, or good as I want. I like that I can make it seem very real or completely off the charts! It's really awesome to be able to do that! :)

Stacey: The worst part about writing is when it dries up for awhile. I hate it when I need to write or want to, and nothing will come out. The best is creating whatever I want and creating characters my readers love or hate.

UTC: Tell us, what’s next for the Gatekeepers series?

Stevie: HAHAHAHAHA!!!! :) well there are some very unexpected things that are going to happen that our audience won't see coming! Some things are going to be changing! :) lets just put it that way, and we get to see more of Acacia and Kalerian and explore who they are even more! It is going to be a lot of fun! :)

Stacey: Well, without giving away the plot of the next book, let's just say things shift a lot. We will see more of the secondary characters like Raiden, Chris, and Tyler and we will see a more emotional side of Lynn. She will be faced with things she never thought she would be faced with and Rhea too.

Thank you for having us today. We love talking about The Gatekeeper Series and we hope you all enjoy reading it.
