Covers to Covet

Now that release of Lover Reborn, my most anticipated book of the year has come and gone, I have moved on to my next most anticipated release of 2012. That would be my other love, ICED by Karen Marie Moning. I'm really excited about this book. I'm still not sure of how I feel about Dani being the main chick we follow, but if there is one person out there who can change my mind, it's KMM. Besides, Ryodan seems really hot.

Here's the cover of ICED that was recently released. What do you think, Maidens?

I do like it, but it hasn't completely wow'd me yet. I'm sort of partial to the Fever covers. Let me know what you think in the comments! Let's get excited for this!

Meanwhile, I am going back to listening to The Alpha Alternative...

We hope you join us and let us know your Dirty Little Secrets!

This week's question:
What book has been sitting in your TBR pile the longest and why haven't you picked it up yet? Or more importantly, will you ever read it now that its been sitting there for forever?

Our Answer:

Angela: I have to say that I've only started reading the early part of 2010. One of the first series I've added to my TBR on GR is the Fever Series. I've attempted to read it once...I can't even recall what made me stop reading it but haven't attempted since. I do plan to read them this year. *shrugs*

Suzanne: I have had Stray by Rachel Vincent (and in fact the rest of that series!) on my shelf for LITERALLY years! I keep meaning to pick it up...but always get distracted by other things. One day, I WILL read them, I am determined, I can't let them languish unloved and usused on my shelf any longer!

Francesca: I don't have a print book on my shelf that hasn't been read for that long I don't think. But I can tell you an audiobook that I've had for YEARS and at this point I might not get to it after all, even though a friend of mine swears I have to read that series. Blue Bloods by Melissa de la Cruz

Annie: I've got Pamela Clare's Sweet Release and Carnal Gift sitting on my shelf for forever. I will read them, but there is just no urgency at the moment. I also have been collecting the Dark Hunter series by Sherrilyn Kenyon that I will someday read. Both series have been sitting there hoping to get picked off the shelf for at least two years. One day, my loves.

Now it's your turn!

Review: Crash Into You by Roni Loren

Crash Into You
by Roni Loren
(Loving on the Edge # 1)

Where do I start!??!  Maybe the hot cover?  No that's a given.  I should mention though that when I saw this book had quotes from some of my favorite authors (ie Shayla Black, Lorelei James and Jo Davis) I knew it had to be awesome.  I mean, those ladies write amazing books, so if they something is that good then it has to be, right??

Well, this book delivered!  Roni Loren can definitely write a great story with characters I cared for and was rooting for.  Lets start with the fact that they were lovers in the past.  They were in love and people got in the way of their happiness then.  Fast forward ten years and their lives collide again and they have to help each other.  The passion and the feelings all come rushing back.

I loved the "Then" and "Now" parts of the book.  I love books that do that because it slowly builds up their present while you learn in small doses about what happened to them before.  And what a story these two had.

First of all, rich boy, now lawyer, Reid Jamison is hot as sin!  He also has skeletons in his closet, being the son of a rapist and a sadist.  He had to fight with his desires for a BDSM relationship while trying not to become his father.  Brynn was the girl to give him everything he wanted.  He loved her, body, mind and soul.  Until she left him, for reasons that we know find out.

Brynn also comes from a terrible background, her mother being an "easy" woman and that was a reputation she had to fight against while then raising her sister by herself.  Being with Reid the way he wanted made her feel a bit like walking in her mothers' shoes, but it wasn't like that between them.  Just maybe what others saw.  And then came that one night that ruined their lives for years to come.

Now her sister ends up at a BDSM couples retreat getaway as a training submissive and Brynn has to go rescue her.  Having to infiltrate that world again and having to submit to a stranger.  Except that Reid has no plans of letting her do this alone and goes in as her Dom.

This book is hot but also emotional, with a great storyline!  I can't wait to read the next one!!

Review: Revenge at Bella Terra by Christina Dodd

Revenge at Bella Terra
by Christina Dodd
(Scarlet Deception # 2)

The Di Luca family is never without excitement.  Eli Di Luca, the wine expert in the family has been keeping a secret from the rest of his family.  The vineyard is struggling.  His accountant fled town and left behind a trail of stolen money and debts to the IRS that if not repaid soon will shut down his business.  Except he doesn't have the money to pay it back and doesn't want to ask his family for anything and let them know about the issues he had.

So a solution comes along.  Mr. Conte, a millionaire and somewhat Eli's business partner wants him to marry his daughter and give him grandchildren.  Eli comes from a good family so he offers to pay ofrf all of Eli's debt if he can get his daughter to marry him.  Bad choice?  Yeah maybe.

Eli is very serious and the type of guy that does for everyone else but holds himself behind high walls that no one can come through and get to know the real him.  But Chloe finds the cracks.

Chloe Conte is younger than him, she's independent, she's adventurous, she's an author.  Just finished her first book, had massive success, and is now struggling with the stress of writing a second book that would be as good.  Her father offers her to spend time with Eli and enjoy beautiful California to get over her writers block.

Chloe is onto her dad's scheming about getting her married, but Eli seems genuine and for the most part he is.  I liked that throughout their relationship he was *mostly* honest and himself.  There were only a few pushes along the way that he had to do to get her to agree to marry him.  But at a certain point, I just got pissed off that he waited that long to come clean.  Should've been sooner.

There is still mystery and suspense!  There is still a missing bottle of wine, yes the same one that seemed to have started the Di Luca problem in book one, but now we find out there's more to that bottle than the old wine it contains.  It has something else of value in it.  And people are willing to kill for it.

This was a good installment in the series and in my opinion better than the first one because I liked the characters better.  I am looking forward to the next book since it will be about the youngest Di Luca, and he seems to have a dark past hidden somewhere!

Review: Law Man by Kristen Ashley

Law Man
by Kristen Ashley
Dream Man #3

Mara Hanover has been in love with her neighbour Mitch Lawson for the last four years, he is not only hot but also nice as well, making him a a Ten point Five, way out of her league as only a Two point Five (on a good day) but she has decided to love him from a far. But, one broken tape; a barbeque chicken pizza; two failed dates and a trip to pick up her baby cousins after their dad has passed out drunk and stoned later he doesn't seem to realize she is a Two point Five and seems like he is sticking around.

Despite this being very similar to the Wild Man, I really liked it! Again the heroine is super perfect and the hero is super manly (and perfect) but, I couldn't help but like them, they were so sickeningly sweet together!

My Top Three things/events in the book:

- The Beginning. when Mara doesn't have a clue that Mitch fancies the pants of her. So hilarious when he is fixing her sink and she is all shy, this book starts of fantastically!

- Billie & Billy. They were adorable! Billie was dang cute (then again who isn't cute in these books!). But it was Billy/Bud who got to me the most, his efforts to protect his younger sister even though he is only 9, his desparation to keep Mitch and Mara around, it was both sad and touching.

- Cosmos & Hawk. When Mara gets trashed on cocktails, then meets Hawk and decides he is the second love of her life and wants him to carry her. HILARIOUS.

I am definietly getting addicted to Ms Ashley's books they are over the top, funny, sweet and I can't seem to get enough of them!
