So in order to settle this um....misunderstanding, we are taking it to you guys, the readers. YOU DECIDE who is hotter.
But first, Suz is going to try to entice you and list all the things that make Ian yummy.
Here's what our girl had to say. Take it away, Suz!
The Madness I have for Lord Ian Mackenzie
It was love at first sight for me. I saw Lord Ian across that page meticulously studying a Ming bowl and was instantly in love. I mean, if he can put that much concentration in to a bowl, then it leads me to believe he may be just as intense in...other places, why must I always be right? Unluckily for me, Beth managed to snag his attention first *sigh* I think I made the right decision in letting her have him.
Clearly Ian is the best of the Mackenzies. He is, after all, the series opener, the one shown to us finnicky readers to entice us in and keep us reading. And it isn't just that he looks the best in a kilt, leaving a trail of drooling readers behind him hoping to have a quick peek to see exactly what sexy Scots wear under there. For me what makes Lord Ian such an unforgettable character and the best Mackenzie is his contradictions. He is both extremely vulnerable, not understanding all of what is said, done and felt around him even though he hears and sees all of it, and completely impervious, pretty much doing what he likes when he likes. He believes himself incapable of loving yet he feels all his emotions so very intensely, he not only loves Beth, he is consumed with it. Then of course, he is completely hot, no contradiction there he is just flat out gorgeous.
How can it possibly be better than that?
Laurie from Demonlover's says:
Hart is finally able to express love to Eleanor in ways he never dreamed of. This man, who vowed to never become like his father, in fact had become like him! He was driven to succeed in Parliament and plotted out his whole life! Having El back in his life made him see that he didn’t have to become Prime Minister to be worthy of his title, of El’s love, or of everyone else’s respect.
and I’ll make it a tie on the boys in the kilts ;P
READ OUR REVIEWThe year is 1881. Meet the Mackenzie family--rich, powerful, dangerous, eccentric. A lady couldn't be seen with them without ruin. Rumors surround them--of tragic violence, of their mistresses, of their dark appetites, of scandals that set England and Scotland abuzz.
The youngest brother, Ian, known as the Mad Mackenzie, spent most of his young life in an asylum, and everyone agrees he is decidedly odd. He's also hard and handsome and has a penchant for Ming pottery and beautiful women.
Beth Ackerley, widow, has recently come into a fortune. She has decided that she wants no more drama in her life. She was raised in drama--an alcoholic father who drove them into the workhouse, a frail mother she had to nurse until her death, a fussy old lady she became constant companion to. No, she wants to take her money and find peace, to travel, to learn art, to sit back and fondly remember her brief but happy marriage to her late husband.
And then Ian Mackenzie decides he wants her.

Hmmm, this is a tough one, as this is a series I would love to start reading! As I have Ian's story waiting for me at the library, and based on his glowing reviews, I'm swayed to his team but can't fairly decide till I've met them both.
Oh, do we have to choose? Isn't it great that we have so many yummy Highlanders to choose from? ;) Lol.
I've read Ian's, and I think I have to side with you--he is, hands down, the best. BUT the fact that I have yet to read Hart's story might make my answer biased. Either way, I think we win--hunky Highlanders all around!
Enjoy!

This is tough because I haven't read these books yet but I would have to say that Suz made a very good cause for Ian the best so he gets my vote.
I LOVE Ian. Read the book a while ago during my semester (so no time to review it), but instantly fell for Ian. I was SO DARN happy that he found someone to love. The ending *sigh*. Perfection!
_yay_
BookthatThing!
I haven't read Hart's story yet, but I'm willing to bet that he's sexier than Ian (although Ian is, um, hard to surpass). Hart is the man in charge. He takes care of his brothers and their wives, even when they defy him. We know he's carried a torch for Eleanor all these years, hiding the hurt of her rejection. Ian is a lad, but Hart is "da man."
I love, love Ian. I haven't read Hart's story yet, so I can't really judge, but it'll be hard to top Ian, that's for sure!
My vote is for Ian, such a sensitive loving person.....Hart wasn't bad either but Ian really touched my heart!

LOL... I'm already ducking so I say at my own risk... I haven't read this series!!!! I want to, especially now after reading your posts. So, for you I'll say Hart?!?!
I'll choose Ian for now, but that may change when I read Hart's book. It would take a lot, however, to beat out Ian.
As everyone says, this is SO TOUGH! I have loved Ian from the beginning, but Hart has that dark, brooding thing going. For now though, I think I'll have to go w/Ian, but I reserve the right to change my mind after reading Hart's book! :)
Currently, I'd have to go w/ Ian. Open to having my mind changed on this though...
Hi
I have not read either book...however now I want to. I am partial to the name Ian, so I will go with that one.
Thanks for the chance - this is fun, love this (double) post.

I am an Ian lady. I have not read Hart's story yet (next week cannot come soon enough), but I am a loyal Ian follower. There is something so mysteriously lovely about Ian, how can you not be mesmerize by it? He is a brilliant character! I will be honest, I love all the Mackenzie's, but Ian hands down is my favorite. In fact Ian's story is one of my favorite books of all time.
I'm going to go TEAM IAN! Though it's a tough one, how can I not?
Ian!! Love Ian and really want a copy of his story for my keeper case. He's certainly blessed with wonderful brothers, but Ian is so unique, such a strong yet gentle man.
Ian. I love anything having to do with highlanders :)It sounds like something I definitely would enjoy reading.

Really, I have to choose? Since I am loyal, I'll say Ian though I have not read either book. Suz was pretty convincing. (-;
Have to go with Ian. Have not read the rest of the series (do not know why). It is #1 on my to Re-read list and will have to read about the other brothers. Curious about Hart now he sounds yummy.
All I can say is that Highlanders are in my blood, literally, my father was born in Cruden Bay Scotland. Highlanders are like Lays potato chips, you can never have just one... :-)
This post couldn't have come at a better time for me, after re-visiting Ian's book via audio just a couple days ago, and remembering how fantastic it is, I'm ready to jump to next book. I would love to wait for the audio but after this awesome review I just gonna have to get reading.
BTW The audio was excellent!
Thank you guys.
Ian, while Hart is going to be controling and dominating in all the best ways I can imagine or hope, my heart and special places tingle for Ian.
Well I just read Hart's book and totally loved it. I have to say That Ian's book is my pick. This was really hard!
I finally read these books like two weeks ago and I loved them! As of right now, Ian has a slight lead for me as my favorite :) Hart's story is sure to be good though. . .
While I'm really excited about Hart's book finally coming out, and well, Hart generally just excites me as a powerful character, but I think Ian is hotter. For me it's how different he is. I mean how often have you met a character like HOT SEXY IAN?!
wow, I can't believe how many Ian lovers are out there! I'm out-numbered! lol
Okay I don't know who either of them are but I'll say Ian just because you want me to. Thanks!
Based on the info in the post...Ian. Afterall, he is mad, hard and handsome! Yippee!
I told your cohort that I was going to have to do more research before deciding, but that picture of Ian is somethin' else!

I love Ian MacKenzie..
Vote for Ian..
Ian.. Ian.. Ian..
ur so delicioso..!!!
* my campaign for Ian..
While Ian is interesting & intense & I love his story, I'm sorry but Hart wins on the Hot meter -- he's got the dangerous/powerful edge going for him
I vote for Ian.
I haven't read either one's book, so I'll have to go with Ian, because you all seem to love him. ; )
Hands down Ian even though I haven't read either book.
The Mackenzie men are gorgeous but it's Ian all the way with me. His character etched itself into my heart and he's there for good. :)

Could we have a tie? I choose both. :)
I haven't read Hart's story yet, but my friends was finish read this series. She make review, and from her review, i think i love Ian, She said Ian sexy and hot.
They both sound good but I have not read either of these books. I like the name Ian better than Hart but they both sound sexy.
it's hard.. i haven't read both books, so i can't choose :)
Oh I love this! What a fun idea.
Both cases presented well, and both sound like they could sweep me off my feet. But I pick Ian, he just sounds drool worthy. And I have been wanting to read about his story for a while.
Ian! However, I may change my mind after Hart's book is out.
I have yet to read either. However, now I have to read both. Can I have either one???

I have not read this series but I will go for Ian. You make him sound soooo yummy! This will definitely go in my TBR list. Thank you for the giveaway!
Even though I haven't read either, I am leaning towards Ian, but if Hart were standing next to me, I wouldn't NOT lean his way LOL

Both MacKenzie men are strong and sexy and make my heart go pitter-patter. I would have to say that Ian comes across as the obvious choice. However, so as not to play favorites, I would have to choose both. Please can I have both of them?

Going of your recommendation Ian...but I haven't read this series yet. I would love the chance to do so!
Thanks!
If, that picture is any indication, I'm going with Ian.
I hope I did this right. I'm not sure what "Following our blog via

Anyway... I love Highlanders. I'll take either Ian or Hart. hahaha
Well ... right now, Ian. However, I have my eye on Hart.
Ian! Enough said!
I love them all, but I do have a special place in my heart for Ian.
I love Ian!
Sheesh! Why haven't I read this series yet? So adding it to the TBR list. Based on the post, I am siding with Team Ian!
i'm for ian at the moment but only from the review i've read because i have had the opportunity yet to discover the books
I love Ian...and I didn't much care for Hart at the beginning. But...I don't know...there's something about him now...I WANT to like him.
What a terrific idea! There are so many fantastic Highlanders, if only we could spend eternity worshipping them ;-)
I haven't read The Madness Of Lord Ian Mackenzie yet, but based on your argument and other trustworthy blogger friends' passionate love for him, I would cast my vote on IAN! :-)
thank you!

Since I haven't read any of this series, I couldn't pick. But it would be great to meet them all.

Wow--highlanders?! I'm thinking that we all win! Thanks for the intro to Ian and Hart--I've heard great things about Ian's story, partly because he's not your typical hero. Can't wait to read these for myself!
