BLOOD OF THE DEMON by Rosalie Lario Blog Tour

BLOOD OF THE DEMON is the first book in Demons of Infernum series, which was previously released in 2011 with a different cover. After being out just one year, why the decision to give it new covers? Although I have to admit the new covers are very "eye-catching".

When my publisher decided to re-release the series, they thought a new, more eye-catching cover was in order. I agreed with them, and I have to say they did a fantastic job! It’s all I can do to keep from licking the new cover, lol.

For readers who haven't heard of the series before, what is it about (other than obviously sexy demons)?

My series starts with the basic premise that all the supernatural beings we think of as mythological creatures really do exist, with a twist. There are multiple dimensions, each housing its own species of beings, and travel is possible between the dimensions by use of portals (something most humans have no clue about).

Keegan, the hero of BLOOD OF THE DEMON, is a half demon, interdimensional bounty hunter from a world called Infernum. He’s tracking an evil demon, Mammon, who wants to start the apocalypse on Earth by getting his hands on the Book of the Dead, an ancient spellbook allowing for the creation of an army of the undead who’ll devour those on Earth. Keegan has been sent to stop Mammon by any means necessary, even if it means destroying Brynn Meyers, the key to the apocalypse. But Keegan never expected that the woman he might have to kill, would be the very one he couldn’t resist.

How would you describe your style as a writer in 160 characters or less?

My books in this series are like The Mummy meets Supernatural, with lots of steamy romance!

Lets get a little more personal, what are five things that people don't know and would find quirky about you?

Oh, let’s see:

(1) I think ferrets are the greatest animals ever!
(2) I’m mostly vegetarian, yet I hate most vegetables.
(3) I love the supernatural, but I can’t watch scary movies. They terrify me.
(4) I put my ice cream in the microwave before eating it. (Just 20 or so seconds...softens it right up.)
(5) I love thunderstorms. I find they soothe me.

What are you currently working on?

I just wrapped up For Want of an Angel, Book 3 in my Fallen Warriors series. I’ve got three more books planned for that series. I’m also working on Call of the Siren, the fourth and final book in the Demons of Infernum series.

About the author:

Formally trained as a corporate and real estate lawyer, I practiced law for 5 years before finally admitting to myself that negotiating contracts wasn’t nearly as fun as dreaming up stories. As an avid reader of romances and supernatural stories, I knew I wanted to write urban fantasy and paranormal romance. Tales of vampires, demons, and other supernatural beings ensued.

I’m currently working on the Demons of Infernum series, a series of paranormal romance novels featuring four sexy half-demon brothers and their reluctant heroines.

When not writing, I enjoy spending time with my husband and son in our home state of Florida, as well as searching out things that go bump in the night. I still haven’t found any, but I’m keeping my fingers crossed.

If I ever do find evidence of the supernatural, it remains to be seen whether I’ll jump around in excitement, or run screaming in terror (but I’m betting on the latter)!

Blood of the Demon on Goodreads

Summary: Keegan lives to exact revenge on the evil demon who sired and abused him. When his father devises a plan to bring on the apocalypse, he and his three half-brothers, interdimensional bounty hunters for the Elden Council, are charged with capturing and delivering their father for punishment.

Art gallery owner Brynn Meyers has no idea that her ability to read memories embedded in objects and drain people of their life force means she has demon ancestry. Unfortunately for Brynn, she's also the key to raising an ancient zombie army, which puts her on every demon's Most Wanted List. And no one wants her more than Keegan's father.Keegan must protect Brynn from his father by any means necessary, but he'll have to learn to harness the other half of his genetics-the far deadlier, uncontrollable half-when he starts to fall for the one woman standing between him and the vengeance he so desperately seeks. The one woman he'll never be able to resist.

This week's question:
"All your favourite characters and celebs have been entered into the SEXY OLYMPICS! Who would win your Gold, Silver and Bronze and why"
Pick only characters from books you've read THIS year.

Our Answer:

Francesca:

Damn you!!! I thought we were going to talk about those sexy olympians!  OK, fine.  I'll pick from books but that doesn't mean I'm not going to post some pics....

My choices (this was so very hard!!!)

Bronze - Shock from Shayla Black's Doomsday Brethren's series.  We don't have his book yet but I got all caught up on that series this year and I can only say HOLY HELL HE IS HOT!!!  Bad boy all around, dar shades, leathers, can't trust him, don't know who's team he's playing for (as in good or bad guys).  He is sex on a pair of legs and what a sexy beast he is!  Rawr!

Silver - Vlad...Because he was everything I've wanted him to be and then some.  He is hot and had me melting from his fire as well as from his sweet side.  The total package.  This vampire has it all.

Gold - Master Adam Montague.  KA-THUNK.  Yes, Master Adma just won the Ultimate Dom competition and his book was one of my favorite reads so far this year.  I don't think I can remember a book in a very long time that has reduced me to tears and sobs as Master Adam did.  His story is deeply touching, he is a superb Dom.  I wish he would practice some suspended shibari techniques with me.  He's older, more knowledgeable, more intense.  And he can unleash all that on one woman.  I so wish that was me!

Annie:

Bronze: This goes to Winter Makepeace from Thief of Shadows by Elizabeth Hoyt! I don't know what I was expecting but Winter blew my mind in this book! Definitely one of the better historicals released this year.

Silver: Mr. Hot Hands gets my vote! Vlad from Once Burned by Jeaniene Frost heated things up until I was burning from the inside out! I'm hoping for a Chapter 32 repeat, pyro style!

Gold: I started this year off reading about Terrible from the Downside Ghosts series by stacia Kane. He doesn't have the good looks, but he makes up for it in every other department! He's got the Brotherhood swagger that I love. Terrible has the top spot in my heart!

Suzanne:

Bronze- Charles from the Alpha & Omega series by Patricia Briggs, I have read so many fantastic books so far this year, and Alpha & Omega series and the very sexy and intense Charles has been one of favourite discoveries, I really should have started this series earlier!

Silver- Tate Jackson from Sweet Dreams by Kristen Ashley, he's hot, he's alpha, he has a shiny sexy motorbike....It was love at first mention, and although I have read through most of Kristen Ashley's work this year, Tate still remains my top KA guy!

Gold- Curran from Gunmetal Magic, and so the obsession continues...I know it is cheating but he is MY MAN and he was in Gunmetal Magic a little bit, *sigh* he makes my girl parts tingle.

Now it's your turn!

ARC Review: Double Down by Katie Porter

Double Down

(Vegas Top Guns # 1)

Oh.My.God! This is one hot little story.  Of course I have a thing for a man in uniform and an honest to God Air Force pilot can push my buttons.  Add to that that he may have a kinky side and I'm all for it.  But Ryan Haverty (aka "Fang") is not kinky in the way you are thinking.  There's no tie me up and spank me in this book (well, there is but in a completely different context).  This story is about role playing.

Ryan has always had fantasies of being with women and dressing them up.  He's wanted the schoolgirl, the french maid, you get the picture.  He also thinks he is a sick fuck for wanting that everytime he thinks of sex because of a bad experience with his ex.  Now, I don't see the immediate problem with his likes or his way of thinking.  What I did see a problem with and why this isn't a 5 star book was Ryan's disgust for his own wants.  Constantly.  That's all he thought about and talked about.  How sick in the head he was for wanting to have sex with a girl while she was on her knees with pigtails and a sexy skirt.  I say.... whatever floats your boat, get over it already.  He was getting annoying at times with that.

That being said, this is one hot book.  What starts out as a one night stand between Major Ryan Haverty from the Air Force and Cassandra Whitman, a waitress from Las Vegas, slowly turns into something else, something more.  They are truly a perfect fit.  She is just daring and carefree and funny enough to draw Ryan out and make him forget about his rules and live the life he wants.

I loved this quote:

"Fucked in a sex shop? Been there, done that. Bought the naughty Goth costume souvenir."

Even though this book might seem like a fantasy after another (you may want to take notes for future reference, just staying) it also developed the characters and their connection.  They both had issues to overcome although Ryan's issue just made me want to punch his face.

I am so excited to read about the rest of the Vegas Top Guns.  I see from the blurbs that Jon and Leah are not going to end up together.  =( I was rooting for that!  But I can see how their friendship and dynamic could work better with separate love interests.  I'm excited to read about them, so bring on "Tin Tin".

Review: Blood of the Demon by Rosalie Lario

3.5 Feathers
Blood of the Demon
by Rosalie Lario
(Demons of Infernum # 1)

What would you do if you found out you were the key to causing the end of your world?

Keegan and his brothers are bounty hunters. No, they’re not like Dog the Bounty Hunter; they’re demon bounty hunters who travel between dimensions for their prey. Their latest assignment is to find and destroy the only human capable of a zombie apocalypse, Brynn. Only problem is, they aren’t the only ones looking for her, and if she falls into the wrong hands, it could mean the end of the world. All he has to do is bag and tag her, but that becomes one of his biggest problems since he can’t stop thinking about the woman he’s holding captive in his heart.

Brynn always knew she was different. With her ability to read memories from an inanimate object and her gift for sucking the energy out of you with a single touch, her life was considered…. safe. But when Keegan kidnaps her and her gift seems to malfunction, she starts to fear for her life. When she learns of her true identity and how important she is to saving her world, she does anything to save it as well as the man who captured not only her body, but her heart as well.

What will they do when they face their toughest decision, save the world, or save each other?

Blood of the Demon is filled with lust, love, action and steamy scenes in between. Would I have wanted more action? Just a little. Did I want to get more of Keegan and his world? Absolutely. And do I want to get more of Keegan’s brother, Taeg? Oh yea. But it didn’t matter because these hot demon brothers have me all kinds of interested in what they’re capable of.

ARC Review: Dangerously Close by Dee J Adams

Dangerously Close
by Dee J. Adams
(Adrenaline Highs # 3)

The first I want to point out is that this book was different from the rest of the series.  Of course the first point is that in no way is it related to race car driving.  The second point is that there suspense part of this book was a lot less than in previous stories.  So for that I've decided to label this more of a contemporary romance instead of a romantic suspense, the suspense was just a dash on top.

That being said, this might be my favorite book in this series.  Yes, that might have something to do with the fact that there is a hot rockstar hero, and you know I'm a sucker for rockstars.  But I think the whole package of this story worked.

The third thing I want to point out is that the author must really have a bone to pick with Ashley Bristol.  Ashley is the heroine of this book.  We met her in book two of this series as the best friend of that book's heroine and then she almost got killed in a scaffolding accident intended to kill Quinn.  She survives that and then at the beginning of this book she has another mishap that leaves her blind.  Yes, for 90% of this book, maybe more, she was blind.  And there are a few more attempts on her life in this book.  Ashley is officially the cat with 9 lives!  And through all that she is cheerful and happy and positive!  I loved her attitude and her outlook on life.  How she faced things as they were presented and was able to meet new people and make friendships and connections, even though she couldn't see what those people looked like.

So now that I've told you how awesome Ashley is, lets talk about Mel/Seger.  As I mentioned before, a rockstar.  A rockstar that maybe has been in the business too long, jaded.  He's taking a "vacation" at one of his properties and pretending NOT to be himself.  He doesn't want to be Seger the rockstar but Mel the man.  When his sexy neighbor turns out to be blind and doesn't know who he is he finds he can be his true self with her.

Mel and Ashley were really a great couple.  One of those couples that are fun and loving, that you just want to hang out with and wish for their happy ever after.  Except for the fact that Mel doesn't tell Ashley who he is and lives a "lie" with her.  When her biggest dislike is liars. Then there is the minor obstacle of an obsessed girl/stalker/fangirl.  Paula is creepy.  No other way around that.

I think this story was great  It was light and sweet with a dash of danger.  I was rooting for Ashley and Mel the whole time and I think their coming together as a couple was perfectly timed and believable.  I am now very curious to see where this series will go since I wasn't expecting this story to turn out the way it did.

Review: Because You Tempt Me by Beth Kery

Because You Tempt Me
by Beth Kery
(Because You Are Mine # 1)

This has to be a mini review because it was only two chapters but here it goes.  When I first heard about this series I knew I had to read it.  # 1 The heroine's name is Francesca, so hellloooooooo MUST READ! # 2 I loved the concept how the whole story would actually be released every Monday in tidbits.

So 7/31 comes around I waited until about 1am and got the first book.  Of course I finished it before going to bed.  And here's what I thought.

I think the author did an amazing job at whetting my appetite for this story with the short amount of words I actually got in this first installment.  It is only about two chapters long and we are just introduced to the characters and their first meeting.

Francesca is an artist.  She has been picked by a billionaire to do an art piece that will be displayed at a building he owns.  He's throwing a party in her name.  But he's never met her.  Francesca is the mousy type of heroine, which is usually not my favorite.  Seems like she was lacking a backbone that I'm hoping to see developed as the story goes along.  She is immediately smitten with Ian.  And he is in return.

Ian wasn't planning on even stopping by or meeting Francesca but one look changed his whole night.  Sparks were flying almost instantly.  Ian IS my type of hero.  At least the mysterious, successful, man in charge and powerful, alpha male, that I love to read about.

A few things I have come away with from reading this short story... I'll never look at fencing the same way, I wish I could paint, and I need to go find my own sexy Ian!  On that note...damn Ms. Kery for stopping this installment right where it was getting good.  Next Monday seems so far away!  But I have to have more!
