Our answer: I think we will go with Lori @ Romancing The Dark Side.  She's giving away "Vampire Bites" by Katie Salidas, now through July 11.  Check it out!!

The question of the week is:

"Let's step away from besties...What is the worst book that you've ever read and actually finished?"

This is actually an easy question.  I don't even know how I actually finished it, I guess I couldn't wrap my brain around the fact that Anne Rice had done such a bad job in my opinion.  But the choice for me is "The Claiming of Sleeping Beauty" by A.N. Roquelaure (a.k.a. Anne Rice)

"What keeps you reading beyond the first few pages of a book, and what makes you want to stop reading a book and put it back on the shelf?"

Our answer:  It really takes a lot for me to give up on a book.  Either the characters have to be beyond irritating or the storyline boring to the point that I would rather pull my nails out!  Even so, I can probably think of a handful of books I haven't finished, even if it takes me a while.

The question of the week is:

"ACK! Your favorite book/movie character (example Hermione Granger played by the Emma chick) just walked into the room! Who is it and what would be your first reaction? You get extra points if you include visual stimulation."

This question is best answered by the following video from Season 2 of True Blood.  Yes!  I pick Eric/Alexander Skarsgard for this, and I would do.... WHAT SHE DID!  BITE ME!!!!!

When did you realize reading was your passion and a truly important part of your life?

Our answer:  I've always read at one point or another, and gone through times where I read a lot and then stopped, and read a lot of different genres and books.  However I started back up, and haven't looked back, 3 years ago.  From then on it has truly become an important part of my daily life.  I couldn't picture a day without reading now!

The question of the week is:

Q. In light of the Summer Solstice. Also known as Midsummer...let's talk about fairies. What is your favorite fairy tale or story that revolves around the fae?

To be honest, I don't read many fae stories because they don't hold my interest as much as stories with werewolves and vampires. But Maggie Stiefvater's Books of Faerie series with Lament and Ballad were really great YA fae books. Also, Richelle Mead's Dark Swan series are good too!

“How many books are currently in your To-Be-Read (TBR) Pile?”

Our answer:  Do we really have to say??? *Looks from side to side* My TBR pile is sitting at a whopping 1,900 books.  BUT in my defense, that's EVERY book I've ever considered that I want to read (including short stories and upcoming releases).  Is that really bad?  LOL  And if you meant what I have NOW that I need to read.... That's definitely in the 100s.

The question of the week is:

"Genre Wars! What's your favorite genre and which book in that genre made it your favorite?"

I read a lot of different things and my favorites have changed throughout the years, but for a while now it has been PARANORMAL ROMANCE.  And the nail in that coffin was The Black Dagger Brotherhood series by J.R. Ward.  I was completely sold on the books, the characters, the story, the world, yes, even her special words.

“Share your favorite post from the last month and tell us why it’s close to your heart!”

Our answer:  I like the special features we've had on our site in the past week.  The Battle of the Covers and of course, our brand new idea!  The Under The Covers Insider.

The question of the week is:

"What are you doing to prepare for an upcoming zombie apocalypse and/or the return of Mel Gibson to the silver screen? (Both of which could be terrifying.)"

Ha!  I think I would be scared of the return of Mel Gibson to the silver screen!!!  He's embarrassed himself enough as it, give it a rest!  Even though I used to love him (way back in the day, you know Braveheart, What Women Want). There's no preparation for that... just hope for the best?

The zombies on the other hand.... Since I don't necessarily like to read zombie books or watch zombie movies I will have no material to reference for my protection!!!  How do you kill one anyway?  Yeah, I better start doing some research and some training.  Kickboxing anyone?

"Do you buy or swap books online, if so whats your favorite place?"

I don't usually use swap sites, although I've started listing some of the books I don't want to keep anymore on the GoodReads swap section.  However, I do buy books online.  It's my preferred method of shopping for books!  The "real books" I buy are usually from Amazon.  I buy on occassion Kindle books as I have an app in my tablet to read them.  I also use Diesel EbooksBooks on Board, and Fictionwise for ebooks and Audible and sometimes iTunes for audiobooks.  And does anyone know of a swap site for Canada or UK???

"What book-to-movie adaption have you most liked?  Which have you disliked?"

Our answer:  I think the Harry Potter movies have been my favorite book to movie adaptation in general.  The movies do a great job at following the storyline, and bringing the books ALIVE.  WORST?  I recently read and watched "Eat, Pray, Love" and that was a pretty bad adaptation in my opinion.  I think for people that didn't read the book they might've liked the movie, but I did not like it.  The story got changed and in a way that I didn't think was necessary.

The question of the week is:

"How many books do you read in a week? And in what format do you read them, or listen to them?"

Usually about a book every other day.  But in general I read two books at a time.  I prefer ebooks (e-readers are wonderful) and one of my two books is usually an audiobook.  I have slowly gotten away from reading paperbacks and hardcovers as they are not as convenient to take around with you.  So I always have my ipod with me with a few books loaded, and my Samsung Galaxy Tablet with a few books loaded.  Never leave home without them!  You never know when a reading moment will pop up!

"If you were given the chance to spend one day in a fictional world (from a book), which book would it be from and what would that place be?"

Our answer:  That's easy! I'd spend the day (or week. Hell, a lifetime!) in the Brotherhood mansion! As you can probably tell, I adore J.R. Ward's BDB world, so to spend even a minute within those walls would be awesome! To be more specific, I would love to "relive" the scene in Dark Lover when Wrath and Beth get mated. Really, witnessing any of the mating ceremonies would be cool! Or what about Butch's induction into the Brotherhood? Or how about a training session? Hmmm. Decisions, decisions.

Second week this is so exciting, and hope to meet and follow a lot of you!  I love this question by the way...

"It's circle time.  Time for us to open up and share.  Can you tell us FIVE quirky habits or things about you?  We all have them..."

Now, don't laugh at our quirky habits!!!! LOL  OK, you can...

1. I can't go to sleep if the sheets are not perfectly pulled. If they bunch up for any reason, I have to fix them back or it drives me nuts.
2. I only cut my hair during a new moon. It's supposed to make your hair grow faster. I even have a printed new moon dates calendar thing on my desk so I can schedule my hairstylist appointments.
3. I don't like to eat cereal for breakfast. It's too sweet that early in the morning. But I LOVE to eat it as a midnight snack.
4. If I have a signed/personalized copy of a book, I buy another copy to actually read while the signed one stays on my shelf, untouched.
5. The first website I ever made was a fansite about the TV show Dawson's Creek.  It actually became a very popular fansite and at the time I was selected to create an unofficial fansite for Joshua Jackson and James Van Der Beek.  I ran all of those for a few years, and no, they're not still up.  But I made a lot of great friends, some I still talk to.

"Did you set yourself a reading goal?"

I have a reading goal for the year, for the week, for everything.  I have so many books to read, new ones coming out on my HAVE-TO-HAVE list and series I've started that I need to finish catching up, that at last count, this year I need to read 120 books to finish series (I'm 40 in) with a total goal of 200 books (which I'm 39% ahead).  So I'm doing pretty good at achieving it I think.  I also want to read 10 new series this year, and I've managed to complete 1 of them, and started working on 2 others.  Not too bad, huh?

This was so much fun!  What are yours?!?!!?

Book Blogger Hop and Follow Friday - May 13th

Book Blogger Hop
Crazy-For-Books is hosting a Book Blog Party!  So we are new to book blogs, and this is our first week participating, but we thought it'd be a fun way to meet other book bloggers out there!  If you have a book blog and want to participate click here.

"Are you going to Book Expo America (BEA) and/or the Book Blogger Convention (BBC) this year?"

Our answer:  Unfortunately no.  Although I'm sure whoever is going will have tons of fun, and maybe in a future we will consider it, but as we said before we just started doing this and as of now don't have the time to attend any events.  Of course, it just makes it even more difficult that we're kind of spread across the world, Francesca in US, Ann in Canada and Suz in UK.  So I guess that leaves us to meet all you wonderful people here.

This is our first time participating, and hope to meet and follow a lot of you!

Q. The Blogger Apocalypse made me a little emotional. What is the most emotional scene in a book that you have read lately?

I would have to say, without a doubt, Alpha by Rachel Vincent.  Even though the rest of the series has been a rollercoaster of emotions, and I've cried steadily through most of the last books, the final book in the Shifters series was raw and emotional.  I don't want to spoil the book by giving away the scene.  Just know you'll need a box of tissues handy in order to get through this... and maybe a support group to give you a shoulder to cry on!  It's amazing!
