Review: Zane's Tale by Jill Myles

Zane's Tale
by Jill Myles
(Succubus Diaries Novella)

If you love bad boys, or Zane, the bad vampire in Jackie's life, you'll enjoy this beautiful story.  Zane had to give up the love of his life, Jackie.  He has now gone back to the Queen of Vampires to serve her and is staying away from Jackie, his succubus, while knowing that Noah, the gorgeous sexy fallen angel she know completely belongs to.

But you have to love a bad guy, or bad vampire, with a heart.  He truly misses her, thinks of her constantly, and realizes he really can't stay totally away.  He  HAS to see her.  He wants to know that she misses him too.

The only thing missing in this story was Noah!  He doesn't make an appearance, but I guess that's because this is all about the bad boy's feelings.  This was a really nice, quick read!  And it'll leave you wanting more Succubus Diaries!

Interview and Giveaway with Jill Myles!

Holla Maidens! We're so excited to have Jill Myles here with us today! Jill is the author of the Succubus Diaries and if you haven't read this series, then you're missing out! Ms. Myles gives us a unique take on vampires, angels and succubi and makes me laugh along the way! Thank you so much for stopping by today!

The history behind your succubi and their connection between vampires and angels is highly original! What was the inspiration behind this? How did Succubus Diaries come to be?

It was a pretty long process! I was working on a book about angels, and nothing was clicking for me. Then I had a flash of an idea about a reluctant succubus, and knew I wanted to incorporate that into my angel book. It added another angle, but I kept expanding outward, trying to figure out the world. What would be the repercussions of an angel that goes 'bad'? Why would someone want to? Why didn't an angel turn someone into a succubus every time he slept with them? Adding vampires to my mythos was kind of like finding the last piece of the puzzle.

UTC: If you had to choose, which of your characters is most similar to you in personality?

This is probably going to make my husband laugh, but Remy. The dirty jokes? The never-take-anything-seriously? The sheer silliness? A lot of that is me without a filter. I love Remy. Don't get me wrong, Jackie's part of me too, but she's the grumpy, slightly-worried-about-everything part of me.

UTC: You also write under the pen name of Jessica Clare. What major differences are there when writing contemporary romance as opposed to urban fantasy?

You can't just throw a vampire in there! ;) Seriously though - the hardest thing about contemporary is that everything - the problems, the reactions, the resolutions, the jobs, the personalities, the relationships - all have to have that ring of "This is how real life works" even if it's a fictional story. In paranormal, I feel like the gloves are off and just about anything goes.

UTC: This is going to be a tricky question... Which paranormal creature is sexier: Succubi, vampires or angels?

I do have a soft spot for vampires... ;)

UTC: If your characters could merge with other characters from another book, who would they meet?

Probably Meljean Brook's Guardians. I love that series so much, and I think certain characters would have a lot in common. Plus, I would just love for Remy to meet Irena.

UTC: If you could have one magical power, what would it be and why?

I'd love to be able to fly. No traffic, no airlines, no boundaries.

UTC: If you could date any male character from any book, who would it be and why?

Maybe Cade from Kresley Cole's DARK DESIRES AFTER DUSK ? He seems like he'd be a lot of fun and doesn't take himself too seriously.

UTC: What book is currently on your nightstand?

Meljean Brook's DEMON BOUND which I am reading for the millionth time, THE MONSTRUMOLOGIST by Rick Yancey is on my audio-book player, and Cindy Pon's FURY OF THE PHOENIX is waiting to be read next. I am told there is a lot of kissing and angsty romance in this one!

UTC: "Succubi Are Forever" is your fourth and final book in the Succubus Diaries. What can readers expect from this book?

Explosions! Cats and dogs fighting! The end of the world! Monsters! Or, you know, none of these things. ;) Jackie still has a lot of ground to cover in SUCCUBI ARE FOREVER. There are more halos to be found, Noah to be rescued (cough), more secrets to be revealed, and a promise made to a demon that needs to be taken care of. Plus, I need to show everyone that Jackie's HEA is working...or is it?

(Did I scare you?)

Anyhow, I'm really excited to write that book. It's been on my mind constantly over the past few months, even when I work on other projects. It's going to be awesome.

Ms. Myles is kindly giving away a bundle of 3 stories in her Succubus Diaries series to 5 lucky winners!  All you have to do is:

Review: Gentlemen Prefer Succubi by Jill Myles

Gentlemen Prefer Succubi
by Jill Myles
(Succubus Diaries # 1)
Paranormal Romance

I’m not quite sure what rating to give this book. I really, really liked it so I’m bouncing around 4.5 stars to a perfect 5 stars! What I loved about Gentlemen Prefer Succubi was that it was a fun, upbeat book that had a very interesting take on succubi, vampires and angels. I was completely sucked into the world that Myles had created. There is enough mythology behind her world that makes it intriguing and yet not too overbearing with its details. It was interesting to read about how the succubi fit into the world of angels and vampires. Ms. Myles did a really great job with her storyline!

Another great thing about this book is Jackie and her POV. She was fun, smart and sexy, the perfect but also reluctant succubus. I loved that she still valued life even after her change and kept her morals intact. Her narrative was to die for! There are some comments that made me laugh out loud. Ms. Myles creates the perfect blend of humor, never once making this book seem like you were wearing a joke book. Her timing with her jokes was spot-on and I found this to be a very enjoyable and light read!

There is also Remy who became one of my favourite succubi! She was playful and seductive and her chemistry with Jackie was amazing! I found that I enjoyed reading about all her characters in this series.

And then there is Noah and Zane. Both are so vastly different from one another and yet, I managed to love them both! Noah is a sweetheart who, from the very beginning, I adored! But then Zane came along and, although I was sceptical of him at first, I learned to enjoy reading about his slyness and seductive nature. Both are great characters and I cannot wait to read what happens next!

Review: Slave To Her Desires by Jill Myles

Slave To Her Desires
by Jill Myles
(Succubus Diaries Novella)
Paranormal Romance

In the succubi world created by Ms. Myles in the Succubus Diaries series, a succubus is created by a Vampire Master, and a Fallen Angel Master. She is, in a way, obligated to obey their every command.

David Thornton is a fallen angel, and 120 years ago he had been attracted to a human female, Olivia. His brother, Aloyisus, a vampire, decided to turn her, so she could be their plaything. When David realizes what Aloyisus has done and wants to free Olivia, Aloyisus takes her away and enslaves her.

She then lives as Aloyisus slave, sexual and otherwise, for a century, and is subjected to torture, abuse and humiliation and there was nothing for her to do but obey her Vampire Master.

Now, after gotten free of Aloyisus, and after living free for quite a few years, Aloyisus is back at tormenting her, and his latest command is that she can only have sex with her Master. As a succubus she needs sex every 2 days to survive, and she will not go back to Aloyisus, so she goes in search of David. Her Fallen Angel Master. Who abandoned her to her fate. Who didn't come rescue her.  Or so she thought?

With the help of Noah she finds David, except all her beliefs are turned upside down. Nothing is what it seemed anymore.

David is just a sweetheart, he's been "asleep" for 120 years, and now finds himself in a world that is full of new things, and much more forward females. Especially his Olivia. He couldn't help her in the past, but he is determined to help her now.

This story was sweet and hot and just fun to read. It is part of the Succubus Diaries world, but it can be read separately without a problem.

Review: Foreplay by Jill Myles

Foreplay
by Jill Myles
(Succubus Diaries # 0)
Paranormal Romance

Having already read book 1 in the series, I really enjoyed Foreplay. If you haven't, then it's definetely the best place to start as it gives you a bit of background information on how Jackie managed to get herself turned into a succubus while being down on her luck.

Talk about having the worst day of your life? You get passed over for a job promotion, because of your looks basically, you try to drown your sorrows away in 2 martinis or 8. And then you are bitten by a vampire! And you manage to end up having hot amazing sex with a total sexy stranger... all night long!

But then somehow you find yourself in a dumpster, in an alley, and you're supposed to believe that you're now a succubus, who had sex with a fallen angel.  Ha!  As if!

Oh the tough life of a succubus who doesn't know what the hell she is!

This was a short, cute and very entertaining read. You'll want to read more about Jackie and Noah ;)
