Review: Tell it to the Marine by Heather Long

Tell it to the Marine
by Heather Long
(Always a Marine # 3)

Another 1 Night Stand and a fantasy come to life. Military psychologist goes on his date and ends up face to face with the woman that has starred in his fantasies, literally.  A celebrity.  Lauren was convinced by her agent to use the dating service to find someone normal not after her money or using her.

This is one of those "sparks right away" and "love at first sight" type stories and I find I don't enjoy those as much as others.  However, this was more of a romance story than anything erotic in comparison to other 1 Night Stand shorts.  However it's a bit slow.

All that being said I think I liked it better than the last story in this particular series by Heather Long.  With James not being one of the soldiers that came back from war with issues, but the guy that helps them recover, we have a bit less of the military feel to this story as well.

I did like James as a character, he was not intimidated with who Lauren is and still went for it.  Lauren on the other hand was just ok for me.

Review: Once Her Man, Always Her Man by Heather Long

Once Her Man, Always Her Man
by Heather Long
(Always a Marine # 1)

I think technically this book was intended to be classified as an erotica story, being that it's part of the 1 Night Stand series.  However, the story lacked the ummmm pre-requisites of that for me.  However it was a sweet story of high school sweethearts who were separated and then found each other again.

I always enjoy a second chance story.  Everything was going well for me here.  Rebecca was being fixed up with the 1 Night Stand service for a night of hot passion.  Luke had recently gotten back in town (or close to town) after his military service and had agreed to use the 1 Night Stand service as the rest of his team members.

Neither one knowing that the person they would find was their high school sweetheart.  Luke had left Rebecca when he enlisted thinking it would be unfair to force her to wait for him while he was in danger. She deserved to live her life.

Except she never did.  And here's my issue with this story and why I took a couple of stars off.  Rebecca has been waiting for Luke since he left.  She never lost hope that he would come back for her.  And I mean waiting in every sense of the word.  So it was hard for me to understand how she found herself on a date with the 1 Night Stand service.  It didn't make any sense.

However, I enjoyed the authors' writing and I am looking forward to see what comes next for the rest of Luke's military friends.

Review: Night with a Dom by Casea Major

Night with a Dom
by Casea Major
(1 Night Stand Series)

Perfect little story!  Melody Manning has been a workaholic.  Because of her late work hours and "dedication" to her job she lost her fiance and now she finds herself alone on New Years Eve with the news that her ex-fiance is announcing his engagement to his new girlfriend.

Her new boss suggests that she calls the 1 Night Stand service and arranges the perfect date for her that night.  What she finds is a masked hottie willing to discipline her in ways she didn't know she wanted.  HOT.  From the beginning.

I have to admit that I knew who the guy was right away.  It was a little obvious that it would be him and in the end it made sense that they were always attracted to each other.

The masked stranger is very hot, although maybe when the mask fell away I was expecting him to still be in Dom character a bit more, but I certainly understand that he had to grovel a bit to get her t accept him.

Review: Dreaming in Blue by Olivia Starke

Dreaming in Blue
by Olivia Starke

This story was sweet and sexy, I really enjoyed it.  Sierra Applegate has been blind since childhood after an accident. She's been strong through her adversity and become a therapist.  After a relationship gone bad ended a couple of years ago she hasn't made the time to date.  But 1 Night Stand might be the right service for her since she's not looking for a relationship again.

Daniel, a firefighter, lost his wife in a fire in his own home a few years back.  He was able to save his daughter but was badly burned when he tried to save his wife.  A single father from that point, he hasn't been able to think of a relationship either.

They come together and click instantly.  They both know why they are there, they both have things to overlook in each other, but I thought they were great together from the start and I really enjoyed the little twist at the end.

This was my first story by this author so I'll definitely be looking for more of her work.

Review: Sunset Desires by C.R. Moss

3.5 Feathers
Sunset Desires
by C.R. Moss
(1 Night Stand # 85)
Gwen is on vacation on a tropical island with her friends.  On their last night her friend tells her that she called a blind date service so they could have one night to fulfill their fantasies, and her night is on the island.  They leave her alone at the bar to wait for Mr. Hot-and-Sexy to come sweep her off her feet.
Her ultimate fantasy is to have a rich guy shower her with attention and have a passionate night on a private island.  There is a second part to her fantasy which is that this rich man will decide to make her his wife so she doesn't have to go back to her cocktail waitress job in Vegas.  But for this one night she has Evan.
Evan actually owns the resort that she's staying at and is the most eligible bachelor she could've asked for.  His uncle signed him up for the service and now he just wants to go for it and have fun.  But he doesn't want her to know who he is.
Evan truly had a seductive night planned out, with even sex on the beach.  But somehow they developed feelings a bit too quickly for me.  The romantic connection for me was just thrown in at the end because it had to be there.  I might've been happier with the fact that it was just one night.  I also didn't care for the heroine as much because I really couldn't figure out if she really fell in love with Evan, the man, instead of the lavishing lifestyle he showed her that one night.
It was still an entertaining and really short read, perfect for my in between books!

ARC Review: All She Wants for Christmas is Her Dom by Stacey Kennedy

All She Wants for Christmas is Her Dom
by Stacey Kennedy

The saying goes: “Short, but sweet!”

But that is not the motto Stacey Kennedy writes by.

All She Wants for Christmas is her Dom is sizzling hot! So much so that I’m actually a bit sad that the book was so short!

But don’t be fooled by the shortness of this book, Kennedy really packs in the heat! All She Wants for Christmas is her Dom jumps right into the sexy BDSM.

Taryn is spending her Christmas Eve at Castillo Lodge where she is being dominated by a man chosen by Madame Eve and her 1NightStand service. After seeking out Madame Eve for the perfect match for her, Taryn spends her first night blindfolded and dominated in the best way possible.

With a little twist here and there, Kennedy throws in a few surprises that actually incorporate the sweet romance into the story very well.

With this little book, Kennedy manages to mix the sexy and the sweet in equal measures, making this fabulous short read!

So, um, where can I get a Dom?

Review: Shadowed Soul by Stacey Kennedy

Shadowed Soul
by Stacey Kennedy
(1 Night Stand # 41)
Paranormal Erotica

This is a pretty short story, or as I like to call them, my quickies in between full length books. And this one is HOT.HOT! I guess you can imagine by the "series" this belongs to (1 Night Stands) that it contains pretty much straight to the point sex, but the twist here is although Ellie, a human woman who had recently been dumped, is looking for a no-strings-attached night of fun; Bryce, the sexy vampire that she's paired up with has made it his purpose to sleep with women and help them overcome the pain of their bad relationship.

My one question when I read about these clubs where people can just call in and submit a profile, tell them what kinky stuff they are looking for, and then they get Mr. Hot and Perfect delivered to their door. Where are these places? Do they really exist? LOL

Bryce gives Ellie a night that she won't soon forget, but as she opens up to him and trusts him he realizes he wouldn't mind ending his nights of loneliness and have her by his side.

Pretty hot and with a good plot to it!

ARC Review: Somewhere in Between by Stacey Kennedy

Somewhere in Between
by Stacey Kennedy
(1 Night Stand # 35)
Erotica Romance

I read Takedown and fell hard for Wyatt and Rye. They were such great characters, but in Somewhere in Between, Ms. Kennedy gives us a different taste of these delicious men.

Wyatt is a U.S. Marshall who takes his job seriously. But when he meets Darby under harsh circumstances, he finds himself being oddly pulled by her presence. There was something about Darby Grant that makes him go out of his way to care for her. I found that I really liked Darby. She was a strong heroine who had been through a hell of a tough time. She has her vulnerable moments but by the end, I loved that she was able to find herself again and learn to take control of her life.

The romance surprised me. This being such a short book, I wondered how Ms. Kennedy would be able to make me love Darby as much as I loved Wyatt and Rye whom I thought really worked well with one another in Takedown. Somehow, it works and there were some really great moments between the three of them that made me swoon. The last few lines of this book are particularly beautiful.

She glanced from Wyatt to Rye, and smiled. "I'll fit somewhere in between."
Wyatt grinned. "In between the two of us-"
"Is the perfect place for you to be," Rye finished for him.

Overall, I enjoyed this read by Ms. Kennedy. It was short but sweet, keeping with the characters I had come to love in Wyatt and Rye while bringing in a woman who complimented them as well as enhanced them.

Review: Takedown by Stacey Kennedy

Takedown
by Stacey Kennedy
(1 Night Stand # 13)

WOW! Ms. Kennedy knows how to heat things up fast!

If you’re new to M/M romance, or just aren’t sure if this is something you’d like yet, then I think Takedown would be a perfect place to start!

First off, it isn’t that long. At about 37 pages, it almost seems too short! I blazed through this novella so quickly that I wished it was a full-length book! Also, this book has great characters that are strong on their own, but when paired together, they are explosive! I LOVED Rye! I thought he was so sexy in the arrogant way he carried himself. And then there’s Wyatt, a U.S. Marshall who finally gets the break he deserves. These two guys sizzle on the page and I’d like to read about them some more!

I also liked the idea of Madame Eve and that 1NightStand dating service. I thought it added a unique touch to a great novella and it certainly got a laugh out of me! It was a neat idea!

In terms of steam factor, yeah...Ms. Kennedy knows what she’s doing when it comes to erotica! There’s no doubt about it!

Bottom line? I’d read it again!
