ARC Review: Nauti Temptress by Lora Leigh

Nauti Temptress
by Lora Leigh
(Nauti Girls # 1)

First in a new series by Lora Leigh involving in some ways my favorite Nauti boys?  I'm in!  The Nauti series was one of the first romantic suspense stories I ever read so it really holds a special place in my heart.  They are all alpha males with lots of attitude, dominance, confidence and guns on occasion.  I was very excited about this series because I thought we would be reading about their daughters.  Which is not the case.  Don't ask me why I thought that, maybe I read it somewhere.

The good thing about not reading about the daughter of my favorite Nauti boys is that they are still young, still around and still kicking ass.  My favorite part of this book was the fact that they are all present in this story, especially Dawg.  See, it turns out that Dawg's father had a whole other family going and now Dawg is responsible for his half sisters and their mother.

Eve being the oldest works as a bartender and also helps their mother run the B&B that Dawg got for her.  And in both places all she sees is Brogan Campbell.  He's a bad boy, has been around for some time but rumor has it he's a thief and a traitor.  Dawg doesn't want his sister anywhere near him but Brogan has other plans.  He needs Eve so that he can get the help of the Mackay boys to solve the case he's been working on.

Overall not bad as far as a storyline goes, there was some action and some mystery.  But there were a lot of loopholes for me.  For example, at the beginning Eve seems like she doesn't know anything about Brogan they've barely talked before etc.  Towards the end of the book and without that much time passing, she knows everything about him from their prior interactions.  So either I'm missing something or this connection they had happened while I wasn't looking.

But one thing is for sure... Lora Leigh knows how to turn up the heat.  Even if the story and characters are not 100% what I wanted, I have no complaints in that department.  Brogan is almost primal, a great dirty talker and knows exactly what to do for Eve.  I just wish for once the heroine wouldn't have been a virgin.  Maybe it'll happen one day.

Review: Fury of Ice by Coreene Callahan

Fury of Ice
by Coreene Callahan
(Dragonfury # 2)

Fury of Ice is the second installment of Coreene Callahan’s Dragonfury series.  Ms. Callahan delivered another action packed story, including a very alpha male, a kick ass heroine, and still made the story every bit as fun and romantic as the first.

This story’s focus is on Angela Keen and Rikar from the Nightfury dragons. Angela is the human detective who was in charge of Myst’s disappearance from the previous book. Rikar is Bastian’s BFF and right hand man. He is also the very hot, Frost Dragon. How Ms. Callahan made an ice dragon steamy-hot? I have no idea but she did a great job doing it.
The story takes place shortly after the last book had ended, where Angela was abducted by the Nightfury’s nemesis, the Razorbacks. Though Angela did well to escape on her own, she had Rikar to help her along and he brought her home.

Angela played her role as very strong leading lady. She never played the pity card and she stayed strong despite what Razorbacks had done to her. Rikar also played his role well as the alpha hero. He knew from the get go that he felt something for Angela and was determined to protect her. He was rough around the edges but very sweet when it came to his mate. I believe this is my favorite of the two books and it’s not because the heroine’s name is Angela either, although, I should add one more star just for that very reason. =D

The rest of the team was great to see. Forge, Wick, Venom and Sloan are all very funny in their trash talk, banters and sarcasm.  Bastian and Myst are around and continue their role within the lair. The question of Myst's survival when she delivers her baby is still a mystery but there is hope that Forge can help. He is one of the older dragons that may know how. He is definitely another dragon to watch for. His brogue Scottish accent and persona will be the death of me *sigh*. His story will be amazing no doubt.

There was a side story that was brewing to be very intriguing. Mac, Angela’s partner, has more to his story then what we see. I don’t want to say too much but it looks like he will play a very important role in this series.  As far as his heroine, well, wait until you find out who it is. My jaw dropped when I found out.  I’m hoping you will get the same reaction as I did.

Overall, Ms. Callahan has out done herself with another well-written and engaging story.  I am looking forward to get my grubby hands on the next book, Fury of Seduction.

ARC Review: Bound by an Angel by Mackenzie McKade

4.5 Feathers
Bound by an Angel
by Mackenzie McKade
(Ties That Bind # 3)

Everytime I read a Mackenzie McKade book I reaffirm the fact that I think she can write an amazingly hot story, she can bring to life the characters and she can also deliver a story I am interested in reading and connect with.  Even though the scenarios that she comes up with would be the farthest for me to relate to.

So picture this...hot, rich cowboy who runs his own operation.  Most eligible bachelor in town and all that.  With a kinky reputation for liking some threesome action, being really good in bed and maybe even being into some tying up and spanking.  On top of that, he's gorgeous.  That could be intimidating for anyone, but especially for city girl Tess, who moved from California after her parents death to follow her brothers dream of owning a farm.  She is now left responsible for three siblings and not much time or space to be wild and young and free. Except for when wild and young and free comes knocking.

How can you really go wrong with a cowboy that is totally alpha, can give you some kink but is possessive and jealous (mine!!!!!) and who actually falls hard for a woman that is not all glitz and glamour but that has some substance?  Well, you can't!  Clancy Wiseman is my type of guy from beginning to end and everything in between.  Bad boy but sweet, domineering but understanding.

Tess is, aside from a very lucky girl, playful.  She's had a lot dumped on her lap and she's given up a lot to be where she is today.  Her family, her siblings, come above all else, including herself.  She's strong in her everyday life so it was nice to see her loosen up and see how Clancy got through those walls.

Then there's their third.  Mmmmmmm..... Sexy and fun, knowing his limits from the get go, and then helping them along.  Just perfect.  Can't wait to read his book, because I'm sure we will get it, right?

This just makes me mad because, although I did read the first book in this series, which was a great Holiday menage story, I didn't read book two.  And that was where Clancy got introduced by being the third in that relationship.  I definitely want to go back and read that because I feel there was a great connection between the chracters from that book and Clancy and we got to see a bit of that in this book as well.

ARC Review: The Care and Feeding of an Alpha Male by Jessica Clare

The Care and Feeding of an Alpha Male
by Jessica Clare
(Bluebonnet # 2)

Jessica Clare had out done herself with this second installment of the Bluebonnet Series. It had exceeded all my expectations and I can say that it is even better than the first. I cannot tell you how much I loved this book.

Because I loved this book, I feel like I will ramble on with my review so I wanted to keep it to the minimum and answer the questions I usually ask my friends about a book, here goes.

Tell me about the plot:

Well, this installment is about Beth Ann and Colt. Colt Waggoner ex-marine until he was injured, now co-owner of the Survival School with Dane(Hero from The Girl's Guide to Man Hunting). And Beth Ann is a born socialite, recently broken up with her high school sweetheart and attempting to stand on her two feet for the first time. These two were stuck in the local forest due to weather conditions. They spent time together and well, a relationship started from there. During their love escapades, they got to know each other and the book explored more of both their backgrounds. Let me tell you, finding out more about Colt was a drool educing adventure.

Was it hot?

Scorching hot!!! They started out with an extremely hot-bothering sexual tension and when they got together it was a full on explosion of mind-boggling banging, I mean love making. Plus any hero that would pick Batman over Superman for the reason that Batman is a millionaire who can get more “p*ssy” just tells you how hot he can be. NOTE: Watch for Chapter 5 and 10.

Was the Hero an Alpha?

This question goes hand in hand with the first. Yes. Colt is an amazing ALPHA male. And when I say alpha, I mean that in a psychological, physical and in his sexual appetite. Arrrg, I am dying to mention a certain scene that had me squirming as I read it. But I will definitely ruin the moment if I say it. However, I will tell you that in this scene, Colt shows how possessive he can be. Did I mention Colt is super thick and tatted?

Was the Heroine a dits?

Not in the least. Beth Ann came from a wealthy family; she is pretty, smart and courageous to start a new life of her own. Her downfall was her ex-fiancée who controlled her every move. Because of his mistreatment, she decided to end it and finally stand on her own. She never played the pity-card, in fact, she hated it when people treated her as if she is helpless.

Was it romantic?

Absolutely! The whole world seemed to be against their union including their friends who seem to think what they have is nothing but a fling. But love conquers all. Though their trials was hard, they stuck with each other. It was incredible to read about their love story.

Was it funny?

Yes. It was. The banter between the friends was hilarious and I found myself LOL several times. The main characters, Beth Ann and Colt are comical in their comments as well as the side characters.

Secondary Stories:

I love the recap of Dane and. We get a good amount of them in this book as well as Brenna and Grant, which I think, will be the next H/h of the next book. I can see the big set up for them and I can predict that it will be just as hot as this one.

Do I recommend it?

Plain and simple…. I absofuckinlutely recommend it.

Review: Fury of Fire by Coreene Callahan

4.5 Feathers
Fury of Fire
Coreene Callahan
(Dragonfury # 1)

This is a long over due praise and review to a wonderful debut novel. I've read it few weeks back and had procrastinated on my reviews. So here goes.

Coreene Callahan did an extraordinary job with this intricate world of humans and dragon shifters. Everything about this book had me turning the pages one after the next.

The Dragonkind exist but endangered and their numbers continue to dwindle. It’s bit complicated as it’s not that easy for these male dragons to produce offspring. They are only fertile twice a year and only with certain human females that have certain "energies". Unfortunately, even when pregnancies occur, the mother does not usually survive the delivery.

Though procreation is at top priority, for the Nightfury, saving humans from the Razorbacks (rogue dragons) comes first. These rogues are on a mission to up their numbers by impregnating any female they can. Then, kidnapping the babies as their own.

Bound by duty, Bastian and his Nightfury dragons will do what it takes to protect human kind, take responsibilities to the orphaned babies, and raise them the right way. And one night in a rescue mission, Bastian will meet his mate Caroline, a nurse practitioner. Fates as you call it, as they meet in the same place with similar intentions… to rescue a dragonkind baby.

Fury of Fire is one of the best books I have read this year. It is action packed, full of humor, banter and it had an interesting plot of dragonkind. The romance was also great and it had a good amount of smexy scenes. Bastian is very alpha and Caroline is a very independent and strong heroine. I love their chemistry together. The secondary characters were definitely entertaining and I found myself wanting to know more about them. I am especially interested to know more about Angela *cough*beautiful Name*cough* and Rikar who is obviously to be the H/h for the next book. Rikar, Wick, Sloan and Venom are Nightfuries we can expect to hear more of or hope for anyway. These guys have the funny banter that will have you LOL several times in the book.

Now here’s the thing, this book has some similarities to the world of BDB; language, some personalities, love, humor, banters and camaraderie between the brothers. But….it is also a world of its own. So, if you like BDB and you are open to something similar, these Dragon Shifters are alpha males you can enjoy. I truly enjoyed them and I highly recommend this book.
