Interview and Giveaway with Eve Langlais

EVE LANGLAIS

Continuing our Burning Up July event, we are very excited to have the talented Eve Langlais.  If you've read her you know you will get original storylines with humor and very sexy.  And if you haven't yet, then let us introduce to you to her now.  She has a ton of books already out that you just have to read!

Hi Eve! You recently released A DEMON AND HIS WITCH! Can you tell us a bit about this story?

Those who've read my Princess Of Hell series met my awesome version of Hell and Lucifer. It was such a fun world and amazing cast of characters that I wanted a reason to return, hence was  A Demon And His Witch born. The new series, titled Welcome To Hell, will follow a new couple in each story. In book one, the hero is a fire demon and the heroine, a witch burned at the stake. It is packed with humor. Completely irreverent. And hot! It's meant to be a carefree getaway for those looking for laughter along with romance.

This month, you have SEEKING PACK REDEMPTION, the third book in your Pack series set to come out on July 20th. What was the hardest thing to write about this book and how did you overcome it?

It is so hard so write sequels. There are so many details a writer needs to keep track of. As part of a series, with avid readers, you want to recapture the magic of the previous books while at the same time making it unique. Also hard was dealing with the actions of a character from a previous book. You need to show his remorse, his need for redemption without sinking into melancholy. Fingers crossed I got it right.

In August, you have A DEMON AND HIS PSYCHO set to release. What are you most excited about for your readers to see in this book?

The funniest thing about this book is the heroine. She is nuts. Like totally off her rocker, and yet at the same time, she's emotionally scarred, a fact she hides behind violence and outrageous acts. The hero, who is deliciously hunky and grumpy, is also suffering because of a promise he made to a woman he loved. When he has to decide between honor and love, the fall is delicious.

Since this is the erotica event, BURNING UP JULY do you have any favorite erotica authors? Which erotica books are your favorites?

I'm more of an erotic romance fan, than pure erotica, but when I want to get a naughty fix, with a great story, I like to dip my toes in something by Laurann Dohner, or Cherise Sinclair.

You're a Canadian Romance author, but if you weren't an author, what do you think you'd be doing instead?

My day job is website programming and customer service. It's not very exciting, but it allows me to work from home which was great when the kids were little, and it pays the bills. My work is also flexible enough to allow me the time to write hot romances.

While writing, what essential items do you require to be productive?

I really do like the quiet, highlighted only by softly playing 80's music. I get alot of inspiration for those awesome retro ballads. I'm also a muncher, so I usually like to have something on hand. Nuts are the snack of choice since I started my low carb diet.

We're always looking for good recs! What book have you recently read and loved?

I absolutely loved a recent urban fantasy series by Kalayna Price, Grave Witch. It is so original with Fae,ghosts and all kinds of yummy paranormal elements.

What does your writing space look like? Clean or messy? Any visual would be nice!

Sooooo messy! I tidy it every so often, but my notes tend to clutter the space quickly lol.

We are asking authors participating in the event to share a favorite drink recipe with readers. Do you have one you'd like to share?

lol, my drink of choice is usually water, but when hubby has his way, he gets me to suck back a few Cocksucking Cowboys. Nasty name lol, but the shooters are delicious and compiresed of 1/3 Bailey's liquer and 2/3 Butterscotch liquer. It's sweet, but good ;p

EXCERPT
Entering a building, they climbed stairs, each landing burning away more and more of his drunken haze. If I go up there we’re going to have sex. I will break my vow.

He understood that, and fuck it all, he didn’t care. A wildness consumed him, and he could no longer find the will to care about anything other than finally quenching the insatiable hunger inside. A hunger for Katie and Katie alone.

No longer battling himself, he took note of his surroundings, but the stairway with its wrought iron railing and stone steps couldn’t hold his interest. The glimpses he kept catching of Katie’s panties as she bounced up the steps, though, now that kept his interest piqued. Sheathing his sword finally, the metal one, not the flesh one – but that was coming real soon – he caught up to her and pulled his hand free.

When she whirled to protest, he picked her up and took the stairs two at a time.

The giggle as she clutched at him rang like music to his ears. “You’ll wear yourself out. It’s still two more flights.”

“It’s you that needs to worry about stamina,” he growled. “It’s been more than three hundred years since I’ve had a woman.”

“Thanks for the warning,” she whispered in his ear. “That means I better take care of you first so you’ve got time to recover for the main event.”

Not sure what she meant, but more eager than ever to find out, Xaphan sprinted the last few steps and booted open the door to the hallway.

“Number?” he growled.

“Last one on the end.”

Arriving at the door, decorated in a wreath of dead bunnies, real ones, he let her slide down the length of his body, and then placed his hands on her waist as she unlocked the door. She no sooner stepped in than he crowded in behind her, slamming the door shut only a second before he pressed her up against a wall, finally allowing himself to kiss her again. He’d only held off this long for the promise of privacy. No eyes but his were allowed to see Katie in all her naked glory.

Speaking of which... Seams were such fragile things and didn’t last long with a pair of hands determined to rend them apart. In moments, her clothes lay in tatters on the floor and he swallowed hard at the beauty of her. Wide hipped, indented waist, round belly with a twinkling jewel in the middle, and heavy breasted, every inch of her was womanly, and mine.

Possessive or not, he intended to lick, caress and discover every inch of her. To imprint himself upon her creamy skin. To mark her with his cream. To…

Holy. Fuck.

Before he’d finished drinking his fill of her, she’d unbuckled his pants and pulled him free. Dropping to her knees, she never lost her grip on him, sliding her tight grip back and forth on his dick. Bracing a hand on the wall, he couldn’t help thrusting into her caress.

“What are you doing?” he grunted.

“Me?” She peered up at him, big eyes rounded in innocence. “Having lunch, of course.” Then she sucked him into her mouth and Xaphan just about exploded.

Welcome back Maidens!!!!  Today as part of the Sinful Summer Blog Hop we are having Eve Langlais with us and we are extremely excited about this giveaway!  There will be three winners!  Open internationally.  The prizes are:  The Greek Job, Hybrid Misfit and Delicate Freakn' Flower

To celebrate having Eve with us we are reviewing some of her work below.

Date with Death
by Eve Langlais
Paranormal Romance
 3.5 Feathers

This was the story of Marigold and Mictain.  This was a pretty entertaining but short story. Definetely good to lighten up your mood and as a quick pick me up. ;) Mictain is an Aztec God who is now serving Lucifer as a collector of souls and he's been assigned to get Marigold as she will die by drinking a potion she makes from an internet recipe.

Some thing had me laughing out loud, for example: the Death Order file with the name of soon-to-be-deceased, and signed by Satan, the Lord of High Sin! Then the hellphone, powered by the souls of CEO's of phone companies.

But when he shows to up wait for her to die, she can actually SEE him. That shouldn't be possible, how can a mortal see him? She must be more than human. So Lucifer assigns him to get close to her to find out what she is.

Of course it helps that she was attracted to him the first time she saw him and had asked him to come back to have dinner with him. But he blows the first date!

He soon realizes that he cares for her more than he has for anyone else in a very long time, and just wants her by his side. He just has to get daddy dearest's approval. But he doesn't know how her father is, and Lucifer won't tell him.

Marigold's personality got a bit on my nerves, but in general this was a fun read.

Last Minion Standing
by Eve Langlais
Paranormal Romance

I have to say that I love the way Eve Langlais thinks, she is quickly becoming a go to author for me when I'm in need of a quick improvement in my mood.  She manages to write stories that will make you laugh and squirm at the same time!  The snarky comments and humor she puts in her stories is so entertaining!

Last Minion Standing is, as you can probably imagine by the title, a play on a reality TV show!  Sally is a bounty hunter for the Hellacious Office of Escapees (HOE). She has decided that as all famous people she should have a minion, wait wasn't that supposed to be a sidekick?, yeah, minion works better for her. Her BFF Jezzie convinces her the best way to find one, and a good super heroine name for herself, is to setup a Hellbook Fan Page and accept applications for a contest. Which they promptly set up.

Her Hellbook page becomes so popular and with so many minion applications that Jezzie gets her a contract with HBC (Hell's Broadcasting Corporation) to make the search for her perfect minion into a reality show!

While all this is happening she meets a guy off the screen.  Drake is actually a shifter (I didn't guess what kind so I was pleasantly surprised!)  As soon as he meets Sally for the first time he recognizes her as his mate. And when he finds out that her minion search has now turned into a TV show, he can't stand having other males drooling over her, so he makes the decision to compete, and of course WIN.

This book has some hot phone sex,up against the wall in an alley sex, going through portals and tumbling down on the bed sex, and much more!  It is extremely funny and to date my favorite Eve Langlais read!

Eve Langlais will be giving away "The Greek Job" and "Hybrid Misfit" and "Delicate Freakn' Flower"! Three winners!  Giveaways open only July 5 and July 6!

Interview and Giveaway with Eve Langlais and Stacey Kennedy!

Holla Maidens! Boy, have we got something special for you! We have TWO authors today, Eve Langlais and Stacey Kennedy! Ms. Langlais and Ms. Kennedy have just released their latest book called Once Bitten, Forever Burned which contains two love stories! You can view Francesca’s review here.
Eve Langlais is a Canadian in her late-thirties who’s happily married with three children. She resides in a small town in Ontario where she works from home as a webmistress and customer service rep. She enjoys spending time with her family, playing video games, reading tawdry romance novels, and writing even naughtier ones. She claims her stories come from the voices clamoring inside her head. Discover what else her twisted mind has devised at www.EveLanglais.com.
Stacey Kennedy is an avid lover of urban fantasy/paranormal romance and erotic romance.  If she isn't plugging away at her next novel, tending to her two little ones, she's got her nose deep in a good book. She lives in Ontario, Canada with her husband.  Be sure to drop her a line at www.staceykennedy.com, she loves to hear from her readers!

UTC: Thank you to both of you for taking the time out of your busy schedule to chat with us today. So let’s get started! Both stories are set in the same world and follow the same initial plot, of soldiers being turned into vampires in the battlefield. Who came up with the storyline?
Eve had the original idea. She had previously written a few chapters of a story she was working on. After a little back and forth, she showed them to Stacey and away they went. The rest is history…

UTC: Have you worked together before? How did you decide to write this story together?
No, we’ve never worked together before, but we’re both published with the same epublishers. How it came about was Stacey loved Eve’s work. Dying to worth with her, she contacted Eve hoping she’d agree, and luckily she did. From there, Once Bitten, Forever Bitten was born.

UTC: Is it difficult to coordinate having 2 writers within the same book to keep things consistent? What's the secret?

Not for us…it was easy. Because the stories are only slightly connected that made it much developing the novellas that difficult, and we worked very well together. Our brainstorming seemed to click and our visions were right in line with each other.

UTC: Will there be more stories related to this, or was it a one book story?
We hope to do more...that is if the readers want us to! :)

EVE LANGLAIS

UTC: Your story dealt with a difficult storyline of abuse and rape. Were you comfortable writing about this type of subject?
I don't think anyone can ever be comfortable writing about that type of subject matter, however, violence against women is a very real thing and should never be ignored.
UTC: Which paranormal creature do you think is sexier: vampires, shifters or demons?
Can I say all three? LOL, I guess if I really had to choose, it would be an alpha, throw-me-over-his-shoulder shifter.

UTC: What's your favorite book you've written and why?
My favorite book has recently shifted from Lucifer's Daughter to a new release titled Defying Pack Law. It was a complicated story to weave because it deals with one female shifter and three, very different males who want her. Intertwining their different personalities into a cohesive story that let them all shine took effort, but I absolutely love the end result.

UTC: What do you like to read? Genre, favorite book or author?
I love urban fantasy and paranormal romance. It's hard to settle on just one favorite though. Kim Harrison though is almost a must buy for me along with Gena Showalter.

STACEY KENNEDY

UTC: Your story was a bit sweeter, vampire falls in love with a werewolf virgin, who happens to be the daughter of the Alpha. Did this Pack have anything to do with Tyson (from previous story) or where they completely separate?
Yes! Tyson was part of Kara’s father pack. As we all know werewolves are a tightknit group, and we can only imagine that when Adric got news of what Tyson had done he probably didn’t regret the way things turned out for Tyson.
UTC: Which paranormal creature do you think is sexier: vampires, shifters or demons?
Um...do I have to answer? I hope not, because I find all supernatural creatures in their own right sexy, and for all different reasons. Really, I couldn't pick. Heck, call me selfish, but I want them all! :)
UTC: What's your favorite book you've written and why?
Impossible answer for me. I love all my stories, each for a different reason. Some because the adventure is just a blast, or the hero makes me melt. Truthfully, the one I’m working on is my favorite…then next one I work is my favorite. If it wasn’t…I wouldn’t be writing it!

UTC: What do you like to read? Genre, favorite book or author?
Favorite author is Katie MacAlister. I’m in love with her dragon series, and in fact, just picked up the newest, The Unbearable Light of Dragons. Clearly, I love urban fantasy/paranormal romance. It’s not only my favorite genre to write, but also to read.

Thank you so much for the interview! Ms. Langlais and Ms. Kennedy have offered us an ebook of Once Bitten, Forever Burned to giveaway to one lucky follower! To enter, all you have to do is be a follower and leave a comment on this post or on our review of the book! Review: Once Bitten, Forever Burned by Eve Langlais and Stacey Kennedy

Doing a review on short stories is always a bit difficult, however these two stories where fun, sexy and pretty steamy!  I wanted to keep reading!  I like the world these two wonderful authors have created and will definitely read more!  And on a random side note... I like the cover!

DEVON'S REDEMPTION by Eve Langlais

If you like stories of lovers reunited, then you'll love this one. Devon and Bethany were in a relationship 10 years ago, when he had to go to war, but hoping to come back and marry her. Except destiny had different plans for them. He dies in a battle field, but is...lucky?... to get another chance at life... or is it death?

Fast forward 10 years, and now Bethany is in a bit of a bind. She was turned into a werewolf against her will, and is now forced to be her makers' mate, who just happens to be an abusive prick. She was physically abused and raped constantly during the first years of the relationship, which we don't get to see much of. However, the author does an excellent job making you feel ok and understand, if not comfortable with it.

And after 10 years apart, Devon is now finally back for her. Now he just has to protect her from her husband and get her away. Their relationship works well for me, especially considering that in a short story there's not a lot of space to develop a true relationship, so the fact that they had a past together made the whole story work.

And the sex scenes were pretty hot! They already knew each other, and what they liked, and I liked the small reference of "we had just started experimenting with this before I left...".

CRUZ'S SALVATION by Stacey Kennedy

Cruz was also a soldier alongside Devon, and he died as well 10 years ago and was given another chance.

His story is completely different, even though it still manages to incorporate the previous one, and it does take place after Devon and Bethany are together.

Cruz is a lone vampire until he met a girl and fell in love, except she just happened to be the daughter of the werewolf Alpha. And their species hate each other.

This story was sweeter and had a bit of a "Romeo & Juliet" feel to it.  And then add the fact that her father has brought in a candidate to be her mate from a different Pack (and when I mean candidate, it's not optional) and things get rushed into happening.

Of course this is still a pretty sexy story, even though Kiara is a virgin, they still manage to be quite creative in their short sexual encounters.

Giveaway Alert! One lucky Maiden has a chance to win Once Bitten, Forever Burned! All you need to do is comment on either my review or the author's interview and we will pick a winner at random. This is open Internationally and ends on Friday May 20th and we will announce the winner on Saturday May 21st. Good Luck!!

She lives only for revenge until the day love comes back into her life and promises to rescue her from her misery. However, the mate who forced her isn’t about to let her go.

Devon died on the battlefield only to be reborn as a creature of the night. He fights to stay away from his one true love, but when he caves to his desire and sees her again, he discovers redemption is possible even for one who walks in darkness.

CRUZ'S SALVATION by Stacey Kennedy
Cruz understands torment. A mortal turned vampire in the war, he has suffered untold loneliness and despair. That is until he meets Kiara—a werewolf he’s forbidden to love.

Though Kiara needs Cruz, and wants him forever, werewolves and vampires are bitter enemies. To make matters worse, her Alpha, also her father, suspects that Kiara pines for a mate. Mistaking her sadness for the longing she feels for Cruz, he sets out to give her all the happiness he can provide.

Together, Kiara and Cruz will have to fight against the rules placed upon them to hold onto their love. But an unwanted visitor creates a complication neither of them planned for. Milo, Kiara’s chosen mate, has come to stake his claim. Now, not only are lives at risk, but hearts are threatened and dreams hang in the balance.
