Covers to Covet

Shelly Laurenston's Magnus Pack series is getting a cover makeover!

Pack Challenge

What's an Alpha Male to do when he meets the Alpha Female of his dreams? Step one, hide all sharp objects. All Zach Sheridan ever wanted was to become Alpha Male of his Pack and be left alone. What he definitely didn't need in his life was some needy female demanding his attention. What he never saw coming was the vicious, scarred female who not only demanded his attention but knew exactly how to get it. Sara Morrighan knew this was the best she could expect from her life. Good friends. A nice place to live. And a safe job. But when Zach rode into her small Texas town with his motorcycle club, Sara knew she wanted more. She knew she wanted him. But after one sexy encounter with her dream biker, everything is starting to change. Her body. Her strength. That new thing she's doing with the snarling. Even her best friends are starting to wonder what's going on with her. But this is only the beginning. Sara's about to find out her life was meant for so much more. And Zach's about to find true love with the one woman who makes him absolutely insane. Warning, this title contains the following: explicit sex, graphic language, and strong violence.

Go Fetch

How much trouble can one small female be to a modern-day shapeshifting Viking? Well, it really depends on local gun laws. Conall Vga-Feilan, direct descendent of Viking shifters, never thought he'd meet a female strong enough to be his mate. He especially didn't think a short, viper-tongued human would ever fit the bill. But Miki Kendrick isn't some average human. With an IQ off the charts and a special skill with weapons of all kinds, Miki brings the big blond pooch to his knees - and keeps him there.

Miki's way too smart to ever believe in love and she knows a guy like Conall could only want one thing from her. But with the Pack's enemies on her tail and a few days stuck alone with the one man who makes her absolutely wild, Miki is about to discover how persistent one Viking wolf can be.

This book has been previously published and has been revised from its original release.

Warning, this title contains the following: explicit sex, graphic language, and strong violence.

Here Kitty, Kitty

What do you do when you’ve got a hillbilly tiger by the tail? Or maybe the question should be: what wouldn’t you do…

Nikolai Vorislav likes his single life just as it is. Simple, relaxing and quiet. What he doesn’t need is some foul-mouthed Texan hellcat living in his house, eating his food, flirting with his idiot brothers and shooting holes in his home with his granddaddy’s gun. But those long legs, dark eyes and lethal tongue are making Nik insane and he fears he may be caught in the sexiest animal trap ever.

Angelina Santiago doesn’t know how she got from Texas to North Carolina in a night or how she ended up in some hillbilly tiger’s house wearing only a sheet. What she does know is that she doesn’t like good ol’ boys with slow, sexy drawls who can’t seem to stop rubbing up against her. Yet in order to protect her friends, Angie has to stay with a cat who seems hellbent on finding all sorts of delicious ways to make her purr.

ARC Review: Eternal Beast by Laura Wright

4.5 Feathers
 Eternal Beast
by Laura Wright
(Mark of the Vampire # 4)

How to even start this review without sounding like a fangirl......First, let me just make a few points clear:
a) I've been waiting not very patiently for Dillon and Gray to get their book since they first met.
b) Dillon is my favorite heroine in this series.
c) Gray is my favorite hero in this series.

All that could mean I'm totally biased when I say this but... ETERNAL BEAST is the best in the series!   Laura Wright did my two favorite characters justice and gave them an awesome story.  Their relationship has been building for a while now and it's already gone through some ups and downs.  Gray has had a puppy dog love and attraction forever, Dillon has a hard shell to crack.  But not once do they give up on each other (well at least not completely) and they just didn't fight what was obviously between them.

At the end of Eternal Captive we discovered a few things, one of them was that Dillon is a mutore.  She's still a pureblood veana but she's also a jaguar.  When she finds herself almost feral and not able to shift back to human after traumatic events, she finds out that only Gray's touch can help her shift.  She asks, he gives.  He doesn't have to ask, she volunteers.  Aside from what Dillon is I find the new set of characters in this book to be very interesting and I'd love to see more of each one of them.  After all they are family.

I love when a kick ass heroine shows a softer side and that's where Dillon is at in this book.  But she's still funny, flirty and lethal.  And then there's Gray *cue swooning*.  That impure is amazing!  He fights to free his own people, risking even his life for his cause.  He would do whatever is necessary to keep his female at his side.  But he shows Dillon he cares in more ways than just the physical.  And together, well they are perfect!

While this book was heavy on the romance it still managed to tell such a complete story.  And it had me laughing more than once!  New developments in the overall story.  Someone is pregnant, someone's mom comes to visit, the Order is causing havoc, more rescuing is needed at the Paleo.  We get to see others points of view, some of those I just can't wait to read more about.

I did myself a favor this time around and didn't read the teaser at the end for ETERNAL DEMON.  But I can't wait for it!  Now, I'm running to lock Gray in my harem of claimed men.

ARC Review: Eternal Captive by Laura Wright

Eternal Captive
by Laura Wright
(Mark of the Vampire # 3)

Lucian, the rebel.  Lucian, the don't-have-a-care badass.  Lucian, the next in line Breeding Male.  He carries the gene that will likely turn him into the Breeding Male, a mindless creature that will only know and want to mate with any female and impregnate them.  This guarantees he will never have a mate like his brothers.  And also, the transformation shouldn't be happening yet.  He should've had another century to prepare.

But Bronwyn drank from him and activated this process and now his body is slowly going through changes, feeling urges.  Feeling a connection to Bronwyn.  Feeling a deep want.  But he can't allow himself to have her.  That would seal his fate.

So when he hears that she is to be mated to another, that she bears another males' mark, he should be happy.  Except he's not.  And he's not at all happy when she is kidnapped by one of the Beasts and kept captive by Cruen.  Only Lucian can rescue her.  And by doing that he'll be sealing both their fates.

Lucian and Bronwyn worked well as a couple.  Lucian is over the top, loud and arrogant.  He is also one hell of a dirty talker ;)  This might've been extremely helpful to virginal and unsure Bronwyn.  And slowly she lost her inhibitions too.  There wasn't a lot of fighting the attraction coming from this veana.  And she should've had every right to fight it being that she was now facing the Breeding Male, the one creature that had ruined her sister's life and that she swore she would do anything to avoid.

Action and romance packed, with plenty of snark and some hilarious one liners.  This book kept me entertained and dying to see how things could get fixed.  Even though the solution at the end was pretty simple!

And speaking of the end... there's a twist at the end I wasn't expecting.  This will lead into the next book and it will be most interesting.  We also get to know the Beasts a little bit better.  Who are they?  Are they truly controlled by Cruen?  And what is the Orders role in all this?  We'll have to wait and see.

Review: Eternal Blood by Laura Wright

Eternal Blood
by Laura Wright
(Mark of the Vampire # 2.5)

Ever since Eternal Kiss I've wanted to read more about Gray and Dillon.  I think they might be my favorite couple, and they're not even a couple yet!

This short story takes us into the life of Gray, Sara's brother, after Eternal Kiss. Not to be missed as there's a big revelation about Gray and what he is.  And not to be missed because we get another taste for what Dillon and Gray can be together!  Plenty of sexual tension between these two!!  When they finally get together it's going to be amazing!  Of course Dillon is still playing at the I only care about you because of your sister Sara card.

We learn a bit more about the Impures and how it's not all roses in their organization.  I am curious how all these storylines will come into play in Eternal Beast.  Which I'm sure will be my favorite of the series.

I do have to warn you that this story is extremely short.  I wanted a bit more and I was sad that it finished so soon.  However I'm rating it based on how much I liked what I read, not what my expectations on page count were.

Review: Eternal Kiss by Laura Wright

Eternal Kiss (Mark of the Vampire # 2)
by Laura Wright
Paranormal Romance

Eternal Kiss is Kate and Nicholas’s book and while my favourite Roman brother is Luca, I found that I did enjoy this book! Nicholas is a tortured hero almost as much as Kate is a tortured heroine. His past has haunted him his entire existence and his reputation isn’t one that he likes to flaunt but can't escape.

Nevertheless, there are a lot of great things about Nicholas! My favourite thing though, is the fact that he is so loyal to his family. His willingness to sacrifice himself for the benefit of others...WOW! Makes me want to sink my nails into that one! Rawr! *claws the air*

Sorry, I got carried away.

As you may already know, I LOVE LOVE LOVED Sara from the first book, so Kate has some tough competition. There are few heroines out there that can top her and for me, Kate Everborne didn’t win the prize. She has problems with trust from the beginning, and though understandable, I wished she was more accepting of Nick. I love a strong heroine, but in order for a romance to work, she has got to let the hero in. However, she shares most of Nick's traits, and she will do anything for others, and constantly sacrifices herself and her freedom to do what's right and protect the ones she loves.

Speaking of tortured heroes we have to mention Gray and his internal struggles, that drives him to drinking and having random sex with total strangers and gets himself in lots of trouble. I'm hoping he can find some peace and acceptance soon!

I also have to mention Dare who I think is the sexiest thing alive! What can I say? I enjoy reading about the bad guys and Ms. Wright writes them well! There are a few twists and turns that took me by surprise. Won't give out any spoilers, just know that things aren't always as they seem. You pulled a fast one on me, Laura and I enjoyed the ride!

I was glued to the pages for Lucas bits in this book. There's a situation (no, won't tell you what it is) that I'm dying to figure out how he'll overcome in his book so he can be with Brownyn. But now, here’s the thing...I have to WAIT FOR LUCA’S BOOK UNTIL NEXT YEAR! *sobs* I don’t think I can handle this. Eternal Captive, here I come...I’m the heroine, right? Right?

Review: Eternal Hunger by Laura Wright

Eternal Hunger (Mark of the Vampire # 1)
by Laura Wright
Paranormal Romance

(More like 4.5 flaming feathers)

Don’t be thinking that this is just another vampire paranormal! Laura Wright has her own distinct voice that I really enjoyed reading. She’s got her world building in the palm of her hands and she knows how to conjure up some really great scenes! Let me get into all the things I loved about this book!

Firstly, I LOVED SARA DONAHUE!! There were several aspects about her that sparked my interests, such as her job, her brother Gray and her discovery of this unique vampire world. It’s rare for me to really like a heroine, especially in a paranormal romance series but I found that I instantly liked Sara from the get-go. Oftentimes, when reading about a character who is discovering a world she never knew existed, I get bored. It’s always the same “ooh, I can’t believe it!” reaction that results in denial, confusion and frantic shrieks of ...more denial! This is soooo not the case here! I loved that Sara had a backbone despite learning about an entirely new world. She was strong-willed and I really respected that. In fact, Sara remains to be one of my favourite heroines!

And then there’s Alexander Roman... I adored his alpha male possessiveness and dark sensuality. I thought the chemistry between him and Sara was great! *cough* shagging against the wall? Yup, you got my approval, Laura! Their relationship developed at a good pace but dare I say it? I think I loved Sara more than Alex! I know, I know, you’re thinking what the hell but I felt so connected to Sara. I would have liked to have read more about Alex’s inner thoughts, his yearning for Sara and his own personal issues with his family. I believe that these things would have strengthened who he was as a character.

What I really enjoyed about this book is Wright’s overall writing style. From the very beginning, I found that there was an ease to which she writes. There is no pulling or straining with her words and they just seem to spill onto the pages and write themselves. It’s clear that Wright has her own distinct voice as a writer and I really enjoyed it! I also really love her choice of names for her characters. The brothers have downright sensual names that roll of your tongue and even her secondary characters had unique names as well.

I also want to talk about the world building, because I really loved the idea of the “morphe” and “Shadow of Hollows”. However, I wish there was a glossary because all the terminology was beginning to confuse me. When you have to stop and think about what the terms meas as you read the book, it breaks up the flow and I think I glossary would have prevented that. Thankfully, I know that a glossary has been created for the next book! Woo hoo!

Overall, this book was a solid first installment in vampire paranormal series. It seems that I’m still a vampire girl at heart, because I just love these bloody stories!

INTERVIEW WITH A VAMPIRE…or three..

I walk into the library in the Soho House to find the Roman brothers in casual states of being.  As usual, Nicholas is behind his computer at the desk, while Alexander and Lucian are seated in club chairs.  All three stop talking the moment I enter.  They’re expecting me.  I sit down in the empty chair across from Alex and smile.

Laura Wright: Evening, boys.  Let’s get right to it.  We’re going to do this light and easy and attempt to not cross over into the dark and oversexed, okay?

Lucian: <raises a brow at Alex> What’s she talking about?

Alexander: <chuckling> I believe she’s referring to your dark and oversexed attitude.  She doesn’t want it.  Can’t say I blame her.

Lucian: Hey, that isn’t me – dark and over sexed!  Shit, that’d be Sir Sex for Hire behind us.

Nicholas: <a low growl rumbling in this throat looks up from his screen> Get over it already, Luca.  Like the song says, I was born this way.

Alexander: Your taste in music makes my balls shrivel, Nicky.  <turns to Luca> Told you he listened to that human female… what’s her name again?

Lucian: <snorts> The one who wears the meat clothing? <Shrugs, thinks> Although...I quite liked that...
I’ve had enough and quickly interrupt.

Laura Wright: So Nicky digs Lady Gaga, can we move on please?

With a smooth, cool smile, Nicholas gets up from the computer and comes to stand beside me. He touches me on the shoulder, his skin warming me instantly through my clothes.

Nicholas: Of course, female. We apologize.  And by we, I mean Alex and myself.

I look over at Luca for confirmation of his indifference. The paven is spread out in his chair, his eyes narrowed, his arrogant chin lifted. Yeah, he’s not apologizing for anything.

Laura Wright: So, Lucian? Are you pleased with your book, Eternal Captive?

Lucian: You know how I feel, Writer Lady. I am resigned to my book and to my fate.
He will always make me crazy.  I know this and yet I continue with the questions.

Laura Wright: You know, Luca, I still have the editing process to go through on your book, I could change--

Lucian: <quickly> No. <way too quickly> Fuck, no.

Laura Wright: And your heroine...she doesn’t have to be—

Lucian pushes forward in his chair, his eyes slits now, and feral.

Lucian: <low and slow> Change her in any way and you and I are done.  <He stares me down> Got that, Writer Lady?

I swallow.  There’s a lump there, has been for many months now, and its name is Lucian Roman.

Laura Wright: <cautiously> I’ll never get you, Luca, but I won’t change anything, all right?

He says nothing, just drops back in his chair and keeps his eyes locked on mine.  With a deep inhale, I move on to Nicky.  Nicky, who is never callous or ferocious toward me, but is also rarely open.

Laura Wright: What about you, Nicky? Do you feel good about Eternal Kiss?

Nicholas: <his dark eyes soften> I have Kate.

Laura Wright: <his answer makes my entire body melt and I think that veana is damn lucky> She was worth … everything, wasn’t she?

He and I share a silent, understanding smile.

Oh, my tall, dark and soulful Nicky…

Nicholas: She is worth life and death, hunger and misery.  For one moment in her presence, beneath her, feeding from her, I would die a thousands painful deaths. <he turns, feeling Luca’s gaze on him and snarls at the brother, his mood instantly changed> Say something, Duro and I rip the fangs from your head.

Lucian grins, and I can see he’s mulling it over. What to say...how to react, what he wants the outcome of this exchange to be.

I quickly move on to Alexander before it gets all fists and blood in here.

Laura Wright: Alex, you are my first. <I blush at this.  I’m so silly, so girly when I’m around him. I try again> You know what I mean, right?

Alexander: <nods, smiles in that charming, casual, sexy way of his> I do. And in truth, Laura Wright, you are my first veana.

I smile back and try to pretend my heart isn’t pounding.  We have been through a lot together, Alexander and me, and I love him even though he belongs to Sara now – as it should be.

Laura Wright: Alex, are you pleased with your book? Was Eternal Hunger a nightmare for you, having to see and deal with your parents, or was it the only way for you to let go of your past and --“

He cuts me off with just a look.

Alexander: I don’t dwell in the land of regrets, Laura, you know that.  I faced what I was forced to face and was fortunate enough to have a warrior by my side when I did.

Laura Wright: Two.  Two warriors, right?

Alexander: <smiles, showing off the tips of his fangs> Not my brothers, female. The warrior I speak of is Sara.  She is fierce and strong and every good, wise thing I am not.
Lucian: <snorts> Christ! I think you just gave me a cavity, Duro.

Unable to stop himself, Nicholas laughs.

Alexander: <snarls> Which tooth of yours harbours this cavity, brother?  I’d be happy to pull it for you. <he leans in closer and hisses at the albino>  No pain meds on me today but I’ll make sure to knock you unconscious first.

Oh crap.  Here we go.  Too much vampire testosterone--

Nicholas: <sobering only slightly> Easy Alex. <stepping between them as usual> Let’s wait for Writer Lady’s interview to conclude before we play Dentist with our albino asshole of a brother, yes?

But Alex is already out of his chair. Like a cat with a fat rat in his sights, he moves toward Lucian - who incidentally is grinning and pointing at his tooth.

I get up.

Laura Wright: All right.  I’m done.  I’m out of here.  Have fun and don’t kill each other.  <Nearly to the door now>  Your veanas will never forgive me if you do any permanent damage to each....

But they hardly hear me.  Nicholas has given up being the logical one and has joined the dog pile that now blankets the floor before the fire.

I leave the room quickly to the sounds of fists connecting with bone, but as I walk down the hall I also hear laughter amongst the brotherly tussle and I smile and shake my head.

Oh, my boys.

**REMINDER!! Tomorrow Laura Wright will be stopping by and chatting with us! She will be giving away a book of the winner's choice as well as some swag! Don't forget to stop by!
