Review: For Your Eyes Only by Ann Mayburn

For Your Eyes Only
by Ann Mayburn

If there is one thing that Ms. Mayburn can do extremely well that is to write a smoking hot story.  FOR YOUR EYES ONLY is a great example of that.  I love the premise of this short story.  The Institute for Women's Sexual Satisfaction is trying to make women's fantasies come through to analyze brain activity and reactions while aroused.

I don't want to spoil the story for you since this is very short and I think anything I tell you about it is basically telling you the story.  Just know that this is about a committed couple (Amanda and Jared) and Amanda decides to participate in this "test".  Her fantasy involves another woman.  That is all you're getting.

I was advised to read this on a hot summer afternoon in the backyard while sipping a margarita.  Somehow that didn't work out but I did read this during my lunch hour, which made my going back to work harder. So if you're looking for a story that is short and what I would consider a naughty nooner, then you should definetely check this one out!

Perfect to spice up your afternoon!

Review: Cherish by Ann Mayburn

Cherish
by Ann Mayburn

If you haven’t read WANT by Ann Mayburn yet, then I highly suggest you read that before CHERISH. In WANT you will learn how Cody and Sam got together in the first place and I don’t think this story will really resonate with you unless you read WANT first.

With CHERISH, Ann Mayburn brings readers another short but sweet story for Cody and Sam. After recently getting married, Sam and Cody are now on their honeymoon and things heat up pretty quickly. I love these two together! They are so funny! But perhaps the best thing about this book is how Mayburn is able to convey how gratitude for having each other in their lives. It’s such a short book, but you can definitely feel like Sam and Cody are meant to be. That’s a testament to Ann’s writing.

Review: Daughter of Lust by Ann Mayburn

Daughter of Lust
by Ann Mayburn
(For the Love of Evil #1)

I loved the setup of this story and the world.  Demons and humans and angels.  Natalia has been living as a human without knowing she is actually the daughter of Asmodeus, High Prince of Hell and Keeper of Lust.  Asmodeus, as well as his minions, have certain urges and his daughter is awakening to her own base urges, while in the mortal world, without any guidance.

Asmodeus is fighting Belal, Keeper of Sloth, who wants to take over the mortal world.  The key to stopping him will be his half-demon daughter.  So he sends his trusted guards, Raum, to help her and at the same time put a stop to Belal.

We obviously have Natalia, who is a very likeable heroine.  She is struggling with her desires and her attraction to not only one but two men, as well as her blood thirst.  Raum is a sexy as all hell (pun intended) demon. HOT HOT HOT.  I even liked Gregor in all his bad boy glory and how they all fell in love and connected.

I think what I liked the most about this story is the fact that the author decided to make this historical, I think it adds another level of taboo to Natalia's awakening and made the story even more interesting.

I am definitely looking forward to reading the next installment in this series!  I can't wait.

Review: The Breaker's Concubine by Ann Mayburn

The Breaker's Concubine
by Ann Mayburn

Holy F****G S**T this book is thigh-clenchingly HAWT!!!  End of review.  LOL Yes, sorry for the cursing I just had to get that off my chest. WOW!  It's sci-fi erotica, but even if you don't read sci-fi and you want something hot you have got to get this book. *shivers*

Prince Devnar is captured on another planet while he was supposed to be on a rescue mission.  He was betrayed by one of his own and he is now being "trained" by a Breaker so he can become the queens pleasure toy.

Melania gets the job as his breaker.  Breakers are not supposed to get aroused, are not supposed to get attached.  But Melania's conditioning is failing and her connection with Devnar is instant, and ohhhhh boy so hot!

In the middle of all that they have to find a way to help Devnar and his crew escape and defeat the Queen.

Melania is a bit broken herself, I loved seeing her vulnerable side.  Devnar seemed to be the perfect other half for her.  And once they bonded, their relationship became that much stronger.

Some of my favorite quotes:

“Because you aren’t mine.” Her breath came out in a soft sob. “Because you will belong to the empress, and I cannot have you. I’m so alone, and I cannot have you.” He froze above her, and to her shame, she felt tears welling in her eyes.
"You are mine to play with," she whispered against his chest, her lips trailing over his skin. "I will give you pleasure like you never imagined. All I ask in return is your complete obedience. Let yourself go; let me make the decisions. The only thing I want you to do is feel."

Review: Sensation Play by Ann Mayburn

3.5 Feathers
Sensation Play
by Ann Mayburn

This story is actually kind of short, but it was the perfect spice in between other books.  This is what I've come to expect from the 1 Night Stand short stories.  Ms. Mayburn did a great job at conveying a believable connection in only 44 pages and that is not something that it's easy to do.

So we have the sophisticated Erica who wants a night o no holds barred kinkyness.  In the circles that she moves she couldn't simply go looking for this so she hires the 1 Night Stand dating service.  I always say the same thing but, where can I find this agency?? Damn!  They set her up with the perfect guy to give her just what she needs.

And that guy just happens to be a sexy ex-cage fighter.  Jonas, with his sexy accent, big muscles, and big... He first saw her at a society party and was mesmerized.  Since then, he has learned english for her and tried his best to get close to her.  When he overhears what she's planning on doing he makes sure he's the guy picked for the job.  And things just get hot from there!

Definitely a short story not to be missed!

Today we have Erotica Romance author, Ann Mayburn here with us. If you have ever wanted to know what goes inside an erotica authors head, then today is your lucky day! After reading this guest post, don't forget to visit Ann's website here

A Smutty Research Nerd

The other day I was talking with a reader about one of my books, Sodom and the Phoenix, in which I did a rather creative scene involving some heavy virtual reality role playing in a BDSM themed virtual zoo. She asked me in a very excited whisper if I'd ever been to a real zoo like that. I could tell by her expression that she was hoping the answer was yes, and that I'd let her know where it was so she could attend. Sadly I had to break the news that I'd never been to a real zoo like that, but not wanting to crush her dreams I assured her that somewhere there probably was such a place.

I was extremely flattered that she asked me this question because it told me that I had written that book well enough that she actually believed it was real and that I had visited there. For an author that is a huge compliment. We want you to feel like not only are you living that book, but that it such a fantastical place could actually exists. For those that have read my work you know I write just about every genre of romance there is, from historical to sci-fi. One over lapping theme to all of these stories is that I try to make the characters as realistic as possible, have them be living people who you can identify with no matter how strange and new the world they live in is to you.

My readers trust me to bring them a good story no matter what the genre or sexual pairing is. That trust is something hard earned and I do my very best to make sure that each and every book I put out is not only entertaining, but that the characters act in a realistic manner. I'm not saying that there isn't a ton of fantasy and suspension of disbelief, but everything that I write is based on a great deal of research.

Way, way back in the day, shortly after the dinosaurs died off and before the Internet we were stuck doing our research at the local library which was pretty hit or miss. I can remember having to go to two or three different libraries trying to find the books that I needed for some school project or another. I loved it, the smell of the books, the comforting quiet, and all that knowledge just waiting for my eyes to give it new life. Knowledge fascinated me, life fascinated me, and it still does. I was the kid that wanted to learn karate, tennis, swimming, cross stitching, glass blowing, singing, acting, chess, drawing, pottery, poetry, etc. I was ADD before there was ADD.

With the advent of the Internet and Lord Google I can now spend hours, days even looking up anything that catches my fancy. There is a website for everything under the sun, some good, some bad. If you trust me enough to try something you've never read before, like M/M romance, I don't want to let you down. When I decided to write my first M/M romance I threw myself into the world of gay men from reading blogs, to browsing discussion forums, to watching lots of M/M porn.

Lots. ;)

Now I'm not saying that most M/M porn is good romance fodder, but it certainly helps with figuring out the mechanics. And not all M/M porn is the baw chica baw baw style. There are some really good armature movies made by committed couples who enjoy being watched. Beyond the actual physical sex acts, it interested me to see what storylines were popular and who the star actors were and why. I'm a people watcher, always have been always will be, and in watching some of the better M/M scenes I learned a great deal about how men that truly desire one another interact. There is just a different feel to two men interacting with each other in a sexual situation compaired to a M/F pairing. And let me tell 'ya, when you have two gorgeous men who are totally into each other sharing their love on the screen it is hot. Smoking, scorching hot.

Thank you for taking the time to take a peek into my odd little head. I'd like to offer one lucky reader a book of their choice from my backlist. I hope you'll pick something you've been interested in but have never read before. ;)
Did you hear that, Maidens? Ann Mayburn is giving away winner's choice from her backlist. Open to everyone. Good luck!

Review: Diamond Heart by Ann Mayburn

Diamond Heart
by Ann Mayburn

Rowan Belmont has once again fallen on hard times. After finding her cheating fiancée in bed with her best friend, she decides to leave and go to San Francisco to stay near her sister. But luck isn't with her, her purse has been pickpocketed leaving her with no money and no key to her hotel room. But perhaps her luck is about to change when the handsome and well dressed Marcel Champlain offers her his assistance.

This was such a sweet little story, Marcel was like a knight in shining armour helping a rather prickly but beautiful damsel in distress. In fact the only problem with Marcel was that he was too perfect! He was the ideal man personified, caring, sweet, sexy, patient, amazing with his tongue... What girl is able to resist that? Although Rowan gives it a good go, even she melts. I found myself really liking Rowan as well, she seems to put up lots of barriers but once you get to know her life story you can't help but sympathise.

This was a great little romance, and although only a novella the connection between the characters was obvious and I found myself fully engrossed in the story, sad when it ended, and I now can't wait to read more of Ann Mayburn's writing.

Review: Want by Ann Mayburn

Want
by Ann Mayburn

WANT was such a satisfying read. I always love reading Ann’s writing. Eloquent and easy-to-read, she makes her books so easy to devour.

Construction foreman Cody McPherson has always had a thing for Sam Denham, but has done nothing about it. Until now...

When he finds out that Sam has signed up for a dating service looking for a man that fits his description, Cody takes this as a sign and opportunity to make his move.As they are paired up on this blind date, Sam soon realizes that Cody is exactly the kind of guy he is looking for.

WANT is a scorching hot read that will make your toes curl and require another change of panties! If you’re looking for a hot quickie, then you can definitely rely on Ann Mayburn to give you the heat you are looking for.

I only felt that the epilogue was a bit rushed towards the end, but overall, this book gets two thumbs up from me because of the bond between Sam and Cody. A very sweet read.
