Vampirerotique Summer Book Tour

Author Override is the place where authors take the reins and take you on a journey into their world. Some may allow you into their private writing dens. Others may take you along with them on research trips or interviews. Whatever the case may be, sit back, relax and enjoy the ride because here you’ll get an in-depth look into an author’s musings.

Introducing Snow, superstar of the Vampire Erotic Theatre romance series

It’s wonderful to be back at Under the Covers Book Blog for the next stop in my Vampirerotique Summer Book Tour.

Today, I’m going to be talking about Snow, the oldest of the vampires in the series and by far the most popular.

I’m not sure that Snow requires any introduction. He’s probably the most popular character I have ever written without writing his romance yet (Sorry, Hyperion, he beats even you). I’ve asked readers and reviewers in the past what it is about Snow that has them so gaga over him. The answers generally come back the same. He’s dangerous, crazed, violent, and in need of some anti-psychotics, but he’s driven by his emotions and his desires to protect those he cares about. He needs fixing, and we ladies love to fix our men. There’s a heart of gold buried beneath Snow’s vicious exterior.

For those of you not familiar with Snow, or who would like a little insight into this dangerous beast of a vampire, read on...

Snow is the older brother of Antoine and an aristocrat who is over two thousand years old, incredibly powerful, and also slightly crazed. Bloodlust rules Snow, often turning him dark and unpredictable, and extremely dangerous. When lost to his bloodlust, Snow sees anyone as a target, even his brother, and has a tendency to attack anyone who comes between him and blood. He is also fiercely protective of those he cares about, and will seek to destroy anyone who upsets Antoine or threatens the females at the theatre, particularly the heroines. Snow has his good nights and his bad nights. Considering a good night for Snow is temporary sanity or only one or two incidents of his bloodlust seizing control, a bad night is one for horror movie lovers. Snow fights his bloodlust every step of the way, but has grown weary during the past few centuries and now seeks his death or an end to his suffering. He might just get one of the things he wishes for when a woman walks into his life, but which will it be—salvation or death?

Much like his younger brother, I have enjoyed writing Snow since he first appeared in Covet. Back then, I didn’t know that he was going to become such a superstar of the series. I thought readers may be intrigued by him, but I wasn’t prepared for the requests for his story that flooded my inbox and Facebook and Twitter walls (and still flood it with each new release in the series). It seemed everyone wanted to know more about the mysterious yet dangerous white-haired vampire (or demon as he’s often called by some members of the Vampire Erotic Theatre cast). Snow is an extremely complicated character. He’s a man of contrasts, a severe black and white at either end and very few shades of grey between. It’s not easy to write Snow. As a writer, and someone who cares about him and his mental welfare, I prefer him sane and on the road to recovery and defeating his bloodlust... but I know that I have to do terrible things to him and as I write this, I know there are even more terrible things to come before his story. Writers grow attached to their characters, just as a reader does, probably more intensely in fact. It pains me that I know I must put Snow through more trials, ones that might even break him completely, but he assures me that he can take it. I think a few readers can attest to the fact that I like to put my heroes through hell, and not very lightly either. I’m talking deep into Hell with no food and water, and no hope of salvation. I torture my heroes. I admit it. I’ve done it with several in the past and I’ll do it again with heroes in the future. Right now, I’m torturing Snow. It’s cruel, but necessary. Just know that I don’t like to do it. I want Snow to find his salvation as much as the next girl, but his path isn’t going to be an easy one.

Snow is strong though. He’s been through so much and he’s survived, although with a few dents in his heart, and he keeps moving forwards because of his brother. He has a death wish yet knows taking the easy way out isn’t the answer, no matter how tempting it is. He fights hard in a battle he knows he cannot win, because he has to do something to give Antoine hope for his own future.

When Snow’s story finally comes around, I think I will have to stamp the cover with a tissue warning. I know that delving into Snow’s mind and his heart, and his emotions, is going to wreak havoc on me, but he needs his story told and his shot at salvation, and it’s my duty to bravely take hold of his hand and walk forward with him, marching onwards with hope in my heart that he can achieve a happily forever after of his own. I’m sure I won’t be alone either. I’ll have many readers holding his hand with me and together we’ll see him through the hardest of times.

Snow’s story, Unleash, is due out in 2013.

If you like unforgettable characters, undeniable passion, and intense love and emotion, then I think you’ll really enjoy the Vampire Erotic Theatre romance series. Every book is packed with emotion, tension, drama and passion, guaranteed to satisfy even your darkest desires.

Andreu’s future entails opening an erotic theatre like Vampirerotique, gaining wealth, women and power, not shackling himself to a single female, but he cannot deny the dangerously seductive succubus who stirs his anger and passion, and tempts him like no other—he will have her.

The moment their eyes meet, Varya knows she cannot have the exotic dark vampire who sets her pulse racing. His shadowed aura marks him as forbidden, but the hungers he awakens in her are too intense to resist—she must have a taste.

ARC Review: Enslave by Felicity Heaton

Enslave
(Vampire Erotic Theatre #4)
by Felicity Heaton

I am genuinely in love with this series and every time a new book comes out, I fall even deeper in lust…I mean deeper in love with it. Ms. Heaton had done it again and brought us another short story that will bring you to *cough* ask DH for some lovin’ *cough*.

Andreu has come to Vampirerotique to cover for his older brother Javier while he is out of town. During his stay, his plans are straight to the point; learn the ropes of the business and someday start his own theater. Though Andreu looked up to his brother as far as his business accomplishments, he did not agree on his relationship status. He does not want to be shackled to his business much less to be shackled to one female until of course he meets the one thing he did not expect, a Succubus named Varya.

Varya is a succubus looking to feed but found it at the wrong place and the wrong time. Never would she think she would be addicted to ONE man let alone a vampire. Breaking all the rules to get a taste of this irresistible vamp, she keeps coming back to see him. Unfortunately, her boldness cost her her freedom as the men at Vampirerotique took actions in defense of her unwanted presence.

It is so hard to decide which book is the best in this series, as I love each of them. From hot alpha hero to promiscuous heroine to a great plot to steamy hot scenes; each book has them all. Andreu and Varya are definitely another hot couple from the VET series. I love this heroine, as a succubus Varya is out right up front with what she wants. One of her attempts to bed Andreu was hilarious; she is positively one determined woman. I don’t blame her at all, I mean Andreu is “sin made flesh”, “incredibly powerful” and very sweet.

As with all my reviews for VET, I must mention Snow. Though we only got glimpses of him, I was of course excited with glee. I do realize that despite his disability from his bloodlust, he tries to take care of everyone and the theater. It’s so exhilarating to see him stand up and attempt to save the day with this strength and knowledge *sigh*. We also get a good amount of the rest of the cast and a good introduction to the fae world. A possibility of a spin off? Maybe, hopefully.

Overall, another 5 whopping sexy stars for this book and I highly recommended read.

Introducing Sophis, the heroine of Masquerade

It’s wonderful to be here at Under the Covers Book Blog for the next stop on the virtual book tour for my new vampire romance, Masquerade. Masquerade is the tenth book in my ongoing Vampires Realm romance series. Don’t worry if you haven’t read the others, as Masquerade does stand alone.

Today, I want to talk a little about the heroine of the book, Sophis. The first things that came to me for Masquerade, the tenth book in my Vampires Realm series, were the hero and heroine. They came with a story to tell and I listened. The plot grew from their pasts and their feelings, centred on them rather than the other way around.

Sophis isn’t your typical strong heroine. She has a tough life and I think that shows in the way she approaches things and her feelings throughout the book. Some might think she’s led a privileged life as a vampire. Her sire is one of the elite in her bloodline, and she lived a life of comfort prior to her decision to enter the guard, much to his disgust. She’s fought convention since becoming a vampire. Her sire would prefer she traveled around Europe with him rather than dedicate herself to protecting her bloodline. Many in the bloodline look down upon female guards. And certain males have come to the conclusion that she doesn’t deserve her rank of captain and want her removed from the guard completely. Sophis fights every step of the way for what she wants. She’s strong in heart and character, but she has her weaknesses too. All heroines need weaknesses or they’re just not believable.

Sophis’s major weakness is her muddled feelings for Vivek, a fellow guard and the hero of the book. Vivek was once her friend and mentor, a man who taught her everything he knew and trained her to be strong, to fight for what she wanted. Her relationship with him changed the night she almost died in his arms, bleeding out from a dagger in her gut while the twin hunters watched on from a distance. Vivek almost died that night too, and she feels responsible for what happened to him, but doesn’t know how to broach the subject or apologise. Things between them have deteriorated over the decade between that night and the opening of the book. Vivek has grown determined to have her thrown out of the guard, something she doesn’t want, and she is constantly at war with him. The guard is her life and she will fight for it, just as Vivek taught her.

But just because Sophis is strong, it doesn’t mean she isn’t prone to making mistakes like the rest of us. When the book opens, Sophis is recovering from a fight against a hunter in which she went in without back up and had to be rescued by Vivek again. She returns to her position convinced now more than ever that Vivek is doing everything he can to have her kicked out of her beloved guard. When they’re given the task of tracking hunters ahead of the masquerade, Sophis sees it as an opportunity to prove that everyone is wrong about her, especially Vivek, and tries to unravel what happened to him to change him so dramatically from the man she once knew.

Sophis is just like any one of us. She is strong but weak at the same time, confused by Vivek’s behaviour and her lingering feelings for him. She doesn’t understand why he changed but she feels partially responsible for it, even though she doesn’t know why. She’s a fighter but she’s afraid she might lose the most important battle of her life and lose her place in the guard.

Sophis rises to the challenge of seeing to the safety of the attending bloodlines during the Creator Day masquerade, intent on proving herself to her commander, and to Vivek too. She’s also determined to leave her past behind her and move on, forgetting Vivek and where their friendship may have been heading a decade ago. She’s a woman on the brink of change, determined to do what is best for herself. I think many women have been there and will be able to relate to her. She knows what she wants, and faces the hard truth that the man she may have once felt something stronger than friendship towards no longer feels the same way about her. It’s a tough time for any woman, but add to it the pressure of protecting the elite members of seven bloodlines from vampire hunters and you’ve got a serious challenge on your hands.

And what’s a woman to do when she moves on only to have the vampire she had wanted to leave behind change on her once again, becoming the man she had been falling for all those years ago?

To find that out, you’ll have to read the book and see just how Sophis and Vivek confront their past as they fight for revenge against the twin hunters who drove them apart.

Masquerade
F E Heaton
Ten years have passed since Sophis and Vivek, two vampires of the Venia bloodline, came close to death at the hands of twin hunters Aleksis and Izabella Romanov. The events of that night turned Sophis and Vivek against each other, shattering their close friendship and driving them apart.

Now, on the eve of a centenary Creator Day masquerade and at a time when things between them are dangerously close to separating them forever, they uncover a small army of vampire hunters in Saint Petersburg, led by their nemeses, Aleksis and Izabella.

With the safety of the rulers of the seven pure vampire bloodlines in their hands and their chance for vengeance hanging in the balance, can Sophis and Vivek face their past and overcome their differences? Will they realise their true feelings for each other before it’s too late or will the hunters finally claim their lives as their deadly plot to destroy the bloodlines unfolds?

ARC Review: Crave by Felicity Heaton

Crave
by Felicity Heaton
(Vampire Erotic Theater Romance Series # 2)

Ms. Heaton has delivered another scorching hot novel for us to enjoy. This book can be compared to 9 ½ Weeks and Indecent Proposal combined with Erotic PNR. It truly exceeded my expectations and as the title of the book, it made me CRAVE for more.

Callum is another vampire who co-owns Vampirerotique with four other vampires. He is searching for new talent for a new show. Instead, he finds the experience of a lifetime that leads him to get his HEA. Oddest thing is he finds it in the most unexpected place and species. In a bar and a female wolfe. Callum was not what I expected at all, I always saw him as this reserved very quiet vamp but just not in the bedroom. This guy can rock one’s world and take note my favorite place “behind the curtains”. (You will see what I mean).

Kristina, a Wolfe on the run from her pack leader in avoidance of the Neanderthal act of claiming her to bear his pup. She is “…a vixen, a real predator as she glanced over every man, even those with partners…” and a very liberated wolfe who won’t have it. So she swore off any contact with her pack and has been on the run since then.

Callum and Kristina meet and instant attraction hits them. An odd pairing as they belong to two different worlds, a forbidden lust and cravings they cannot ignore. Callum offers her to stay with him for a week to get to know each other, and get-to-know-each-other they did! It was a very hot week until Kristina goes missing. I do not want to give too much information but there will be a fight, confrontations, rescuing, we will see other characters and more will be introduced.

It is a pleasure to see a different light of Antoine. Seems like there is more to him then meets the eye, definitely something to do with family issues (my guess). We also see a bit of my love, Snow. I have this thing for him you see, had even attempted to catch his attention through social media. Although, he did not answer I am sure he had taken notice. #inmydreams *cough*. Anyway, we see more of Snow, his temper, dangerous side and another bit of his humanity, which is rare for a pureblood such as him. Both Antoine and Snow’s book will be just as amazing as this one, no doubt.

*Standing ovation from me to Ms. Heaton* Job well done yet again!!!

Review: Covet by Felicity Heaton

Covet
by Felicity Heaton
(Vampire Erotic Theater Romance Series # 1)

A forbidden lust that has lasted two years, coveting from afar to finally explode into love. Javier is an elite vampire, one of the men to run a Vampire Erotic Theater. Since meeting Lilah, he had been lusting for her. She is a mortal slave; one already owned by another vampire. All this time, Javier and Lilah had managed to avoid each other and avoid being alone in the same room until they meet in a private box during a play *fanning self*. Unfortunately, “there is one rule his kind honoured above all others: an owned human must never be touch by a vampire other than their master”, a problem Javier cannot avoid.

The romance was not as strong as I would like it but it is apparent. However, the sexual tension is more evident and you can feel it right though the pages as you read! Super smexy scenes!!! The vampires in this world are rich, powerful with strong alpha traits, which I love. There will be claiming, jealousy and a battle for love.

This is my first Heaton book and will definitely not be my last. I have to say that this book is not for the faint of heart. It has strong sexual scenes that will leave you lusting and may cause high stress if not sated. I highly recommend this book for anyone who is prepared to take the consequences of the emotional after affects.

Interview and Giveaway with Felicity Heaton!

Our next stop on with UTC After Dark is with author Felicity Heaton! Known for her paranormal love of all things angels and and vampires and shifters, Heaton is a perfect with with UTC's paranormal event. For more information on Felicity Heaton, please check out her website here and her Facebook here. First off, thank so much for participating in UTC After Dark! Who is Felicity Heaton? Tell us five fun things that readers wouldn't expect about you!

Who am I? Let’s see. I’m a complete travel maniac and love nothing more than heading off on a new adventure with my husband. We’re quite intent on seeing the world and have covered a good slice of it already. I love anything Japanese and I’m learning the language, watch anime all the time, read manga, and have been to Japan four times... and I have a collection of Gundams, VF-25Fs, and plastic character figurines on my desk. I love sports such as archery, motorcycle speedway, and football and just started to learn how to snowboard. I’m a huge FC Barcelona fan and have been to several games, including four classico matches (Barcelona vs Real Madrid) and will be going to my fifth next year if my husband gets his way. I prefer to write with music and often have playlists for the book I’m writing on my iPod or computer, with songs specifically selected for the characters and plot. I actually have specific music for writing fight scenes to and sad scenes too. I’m a total geek and can fix computers, program in several languages, design websites, draw, and love to play RPGs on my PlayStation, PS2 and PS3. I’m currently re-playing Assassin’s Creed 2 ahead of getting Assassin’s Creed: Revelations at Christmas. My husband is getting sick of me jumping up and down on the sofa when the advert comes on.

You're an independent romance author. Can you tell us a bit about your writing journey?

I started out in fanfiction a long time ago now, back in 2003. After doing that for a couple of years, my author friend and my husband both nudged me towards writing something original with my own characters. I was petrified that I would be rubbish at writing my own characters but I really enjoyed it and haven’t looked back since.

I was epublished in 2005 but soon realised that I could probably make a better job of things if I published my own books and handled everything myself. My friend and I both felt we were giving the publisher 60% of the profits from our own hard work because they weren’t really advertising or doing anything to promote the book. We formed a self-publishing cooperative and invited a few other authors to join us. Back in 2006, there was no Kindle store or ebooks available on places like Barnes and Noble, Sony, etc. The only place to distribute was Fictionwise so we played publisher and got our books on there. Every year was the year ebooks were due to go mainstream. It wasn’t until last year that things really took off and non-US authors like myself could get onto the Amazon Kindle program. I think being indie these days is extremely easy in terms of distribution and getting reviewed too.

Myself and a few fellow authors have lived through very tough times, the infancy of ebooks where there were barely any readers, no real distribution options, and a lot of people wouldn’t review your book. We’ve survived to tell the tale because of hard work and perseverance. It is a lot easier to make money and sell books now. I can’t imagine many of today’s indies having the patience to survive the poor ebook market between 2005-2009, when sales were extremely low and you were doing damn well if your book made around $500 in two years. Because of my perseverance, I had an extensive backlist of books that I could immediately place onto Amazon and other retailers as they became available, and had already built a small loyal following. My following has increased dramatically in the past year and I was fortunate enough to be in a position to become a full-time author this year.

Your paranormal vampire romance, Heart of Darkness was just released. Can you tell us a bit about it?

Absolutely. Heart of Darkness is a heart-wrenching love story about two vampires from very different worlds.

Aleksandr is the former heir prince of the vampire nation of Europe. His family, the Nemov bloodline, preach pacifism and led their people from the dark times when vampires were little more than demonic beasts to a time when they have attained their humanity. To retain that humanity, vampires must limit their kills and not take pleasure from the hunt. The Nemov bloodline set the example for vampire society, so when Aleksandr’s defenceless younger sister was brutally murdered in their own palace by a vampire hunter four centuries ago, Aleksandr renounced his title and vowed to hunt the killer and his family line to extinction. Four hundred years of hunting and killing has taken its toll on Aleksandr and he’s dancing with the darkness, his soul corrupted by the thousands of lives he has taken.

When his hunt leads him to Prague on a wintry night, he meets not only a female vampire hunter who he kills but a female guard from the local bloodline.

A beautiful woman who completely mesmerises him.

Elise is a loyal guard of the Cerny bloodline. It’s her life and her position means the world to her. She’ll follow orders to the letter but when Aleksandr announces to her master that he needs to stay in Prague to await the final member of the vampire hunter’s bloodline and finally achieve vengeance, and specifically asks for Elise as part of his guard, she wants nothing more than to escape him. It’s clear that Aleksandr is now on a new hunt and that she’s the prey, and she isn’t sure how to deal with his attention. She’s never been pursued by a man so intently and no matter what she tries to do, it seems as though there’s no way of escaping her handsome hunter or her growing feelings for him.

It isn’t long before Aleksandr’s pursuit of Elise makes him realise something dreadful though. She inspires emotions in him that he hasn’t felt in centuries and he has been blind to the darkness growing within his heart and soul. Elise might be his only hope for salvation and she means more to him than just a fleeting moment of passion, but his tactless pursuit and his antiquated behaviour might have ruined his chances with her.

Heart of Darkness is action-packed, intense, deeply romantic and emotional, and is guaranteed to have you on the edge of your seat and aching for the characters as they fight against the odds to save Aleksandr’s soul and seize their happily forever after. You can read the excerpt and find out where to buy it in ebook or paperback at my website: http://www.felicityheaton.co.uk/ebooks.php?title=Heart%20of%20Darkness

Have you ever read a book where you thought, "Wow, I wish I wrote this book!"? If so, which book was it and what fascinated you about it?

I’ve read quite a few books where I wish I had thought of the idea or could write like it. Most of the time it’s books by Terry Pratchett because he writes such amazing stories and has the most incredible use of words. He’ll describe things in a completely unique way that just makes you go – wow! I would love to have written any book by him.

Fun questions! You have just found out that the paranormal world is real! What would be your initial reaction?

Point me in the direction of my sexy vampires. Shortly following that I would be hunting down my angels and my werewolves too. I think there would be a few women out there looking to track down either some of my vampires or my angels if the paranormal world were real. Some of them have a deep affection for my characters, and that always makes me smile and makes me feel that I’ve done a good job of creating them and their stories. Personally, I would be on the look out for a select few, namely Valentine of my Vampires Realm series, Marcus of my Her Angel series, Julian from my stand alone vampire romance Love Immortal and Aleksandr from my stand alone vampire romance Heart of Darkness. That would keep me occupied for a long time! I would definitely be out of my house in search of vampires.

This will be a tough question to answer: Which is sexier? Angel or Vampire?

Oh, that’s just evil. I can’t really say because I write them both so differently. They’re both so entrancing and both have qualities that make them sexier than most women could handle. I really love my angels, because they’re so dark and so passionate, and so powerful... but I do love my vampires. I write them very dark, very dangerous, and likely to bite first and ask questions later. I want to say angels, but I have to say vampires. They’re my first love and have been since I was very young, like single digits in age.

Let's speak a bit about favorites:

Favorite paranormal creature?

Vampire. It would go vampires, angels, werewolves, other shape-shifters.

Favorite thing to do while not reading or writing?
Playing PlayStation, drawing, watching anime, learning Japanese, or travelling.

Favorite genre to read?
Paranormal romance at the moment. Strangely, I hadn’t read a paranormal romance novel before writing my first one. I read them as often as I can now, which isn’t often since I’m normally editing or writing.

Favorite drink?

Tea. It sounds very clichéd because I’m British, but it’s true. I love a good cuppa! Especially if there’s a bar of chocolate on the side. If not tea then I’m a fan of the vanilla skinny latte.

Author Bio:
Felicity Heaton is a romance author writing as both Felicity Heaton and F E Heaton. She is passionate about penning paranormal tales full of vampires, witches, werewolves, angels and shape-shifters, and has been interested in all things preternatural and fantastical since she was just a child. Her other passion is science-fiction and she likes nothing more than to immerse herself in a whole new universe and the amazing species therein. She used to while away days at school and college dreaming of vampires, werewolves and witches, or being lost in space, and used to while away evenings watching movies about them or reading gothic horror stories, science-fiction and romances.

Having tried her hand at various romance genres, it was only natural for her to turn her focus back to the paranormal, fantasy and science-fiction worlds she enjoys so much. She loves to write seductive, sexy and strong vampires, werewolves, witches, angels and alien species. The worlds she often dreams up for them are vicious, dark and dangerous, reflecting aspects of the heroines and heroes, but her characters also love deeply, laugh, cry and feel every emotion as keenly as anyone does. She makes no excuses for the darkness surrounding them, especially the paranormal creatures, and says that this is their world. She’s just honoured to write down their adventures.

Felicity Heaton is graciously giving away one bundle of signed book swag that includes postcards, bookmarks and trading cards for Heart of Darkness and her other books. Open to everyone.
