GEARED FOR PLEASURE, Book One in the Elemental Steam series, started out as an homage to my group blog, The Smutketeers. The idea began to form over three years ago…although I have to admit, the original working title was Smutketeers in Space.
It wasn’t until we got together to do a group blog, and dressed up for our first photo shoot, that I decided the story had to be steampunk. Or my version of steampunk, a sub-sub genre I call clockworky steampunkitude.
I realized soon enough that I had the characters, but no world for them to live in. That soon changed with a vengeance. Theorrey is a huge world, and it took over my imagination, my sanity, and all of my free time. I’d never actually read any modern steampunk, and I purposely refused to until I’d finished the book. What I knew I learned from research, Jules Verne, HG Wells, movies and my experience with the Smutketeers themselves. My imagination took over from there.
As my alter ego, RG Alexander, I have built paranormal worlds before. But this world? It was different. Grittier, more detailed. This world was dangerous to live in. And jammed full of rules that were made to be broken. It is the only world my characters could have lived in. Harsh and raw and ripe for a revolution.
Steampunk is, at its core, an alternate world set in the past. Think Jules Verne. Think HG Wells. Think League of Extraordinary Gentlemen. Something is different, usually the technology, but the world still has remnants of what you expect to see from the Victorian age.
Clockworky steampunkitude on the other hand? Well, it’s a bit more altered than most.
~A day in the life of the Queen’s Chalice? Before the chaos, I would say Dare Senedal’s life was very comfortable. She lived in the Copper Palace on Queen’s Hill, untouched by the hardships below. The occasional sadness and anger she sensed from the queen were easily explained away. Life was training, games and distraction. The rules made sense. She knew who and what she was. She knew her place.
But that life was all illusion. And what starts in Earthly Desires and continues in the second story in Geared, Fiery Temptations, is Dare’s awakening. Her coming of age and the bursting of her comfortable bubble. Her story runs parallel to the queen, so it will not end in this book. None of their stories are entirely finished. They will keep growing…like the rest of us.
We’ll just have to wait and see where they end up.
I hope everyone enjoys it! And thank you so much for letting me stop by!

The world of Theorrey runs like a well-oiled machine. The elements are in balance, passion is tamed, and the young queen is the heartbeat of it all. But in these two all-new stories of elemental steam, nothing is ever as it seems. To enter:
Earthly Desires
Demeter “Dare” Senedal is the Queen’s Chalice-her protector and closest companion. So when the queen goes missing, Dare rushes to locate her, even though the search leads her straight into trouble.
A gentleman who trades in secrets and sin, Bodhan revels in carnal delights, but when a naked and bound woman appears on his shore, he finds his hunger to possess at odds with his need to protect. As Bodhan shares his knowledge of pleasure, Dare must decide if she can trust him, both with her mission and her heart.
Fiery Temptations
Seraphina always lands on her feet. After all, she is a Felidae-more feline than human-and an excellent thief. There has never been a job Phina wouldn’t take or a man who could tame her…until she meets Cyrus Arendal.
As the Queen’s Sword, Cyrus should have known better than to fall victim to a beautiful bandit. Now, to find and retrieve the moonfire dagger, he’ll need to convince Phina not to judge a man by his station, but rather by how completely he can satisfy her desires.
