The Better to Bite
by Cynthia Eden
Don’t go into the woods.
Sixteen-year-old Anna Lambert knows that the woods near her new home aren’t safe. She’s seen the wolves that stalk through that dark forest, but Anna doesn’t scare easily.
Anna is cursed–or gifted, depending on how you look at it–with the ability to find anyone or anything that is lost. So when folks start disappearing in the small town of Haven, Anna’s father, the sheriff, has to use her special skills as they begin to hunt for a killer.
But the killer isn’t exactly human. As Anna is pulled deeper into the secrets of Haven–a town that is truly cursed–she finds herself falling for two, equally mysterious boys. With the danger closing in, one of those boys may just turn out to be her savior. And the other? He could be a very big, very bad…beast.
Beware of beasts…and boys…with bite.
Releasing this October!!!!
From Cynthia's blog...

THE BETTER TO BITE will be the first YA that I release, although it is not the first YA that I have written. I actually wrote my very first YA novel almost 16 years ago. So, ahem, I guess you could say this one has been a long time coming.

As I wrote THE BETTER TO BITE, I thought of it as Veronica Mars meets Little Red Riding Hood–with werewolves.  I had such an incredible time writing this story, and I’m crossing my fingers and hoping that readers enjoy it, too.

Now the Quorum are displeased, not only with Kayden, but with Farley and Daniel too. Though her father is now dead, Farley’s troubles with the Reavers are far from over. An ancient Immortal, trapped for a thousand years, wants Farley for himself, and he will stop at nothing to claim her.

Author Override: Cynthia Eden

Author Override is the place where authors take the reins and take you on a journey into their world. Some may allow you into their private writing dens. Others may take you along with them on research trips or interviews. Whatever the case may be, sit back, relax and enjoy the ride because here you’ll get an in-depth look into an author’s musings.

Let’s Go Haunting

Hi, everyone! I am so excited to be here with you today (and thanks to Francesca for inviting me over!). After a long, wickedly hot summer, I’ve started to focus my attention on fall…and the magic that this time of year seems to bring to me.

My local craft stores have their Halloween decorations up, and, I’ll confess, I’ve already made several Halloween purchases. Two of my favorites? The bone-shaped cookie trays that I snagged and the finger-shaped trays to match them. Oh, Halloween, I do love you.

It’s my love of Halloween that actually inspires many of my stories. Growing up, I could never get my fill of spooky tales. I loved hearing about monsters—mummies, vampires, werewolves. I would watch every scary show I could find, and I would stay up long into the night reading stories with my trusty flash-light gripped in my hand.

Halloween is in my blood. I decorate for it the way some folks decorate for Christmas—all out, baby! I throw a Halloween party every year. I bob for apples. I play musical headstones. I enjoy the scary time.

And as I enjoy, I spin tales. During the month of October, I come up with so many paranormal story ideas! I mean, how could I not? Everywhere I look, I see inspiration. I’ve got little goblins at my door. When you step on my welcome mat, it howls at you. Spooky music plays from my bathroom (ah, yeah, you might not want to know about that). Inspiration strikes me at every turn. So during October, you’ll find me, my fingers flying over the keyboard as I write as frantically as I can.

Oh, and I have one rule about October: I MUST be writing a paranormal story. Sure, I enjoy my romantic suspenses, love them, in fact, but I have to write at least one paranormal story during the month of October, or I’m just a super sad girl.

What about you? Do you enjoy the spooky times? What’s your favorite part of Halloween?

To get you in the Halloween mood, I’ll give one commenter a copy of my new book, HOWL FOR IT.

Happy haunting. ;)

Review: Bleed for Me by Cynthia Eden

Bleed for Me
by Cynthia Eden
(Loved by Gods # 1)

I love Ms. Eden’s Angel series, and when I saw a friend reading this on Goodreads, I could not resist.

Ms. Eden did a great job with this Greek-God-finally-meet-his-mate story. Terese Lafitte, a newly turned vamp was in need to feed and wouldn’t you know it, she meets the Sun God, Apollo. And in most books I’ve read including this one, Apollo is portrayed bored and in search of a woman who will leave him enthralled. Terese did just that and brought him to his knees. But Ms. Eden did not make it easy on Apollo; she gives him an obsessive, powerful vampire as a hurdle and makes Apollo work hard to get his Happy-Ever-After (HEA).

It’s a cute short story. The characters and world building are good. You get a good gist of what is going on and you get a good amount of history of Apollo and his fam bam. We get to see a bit of Ares, Artemis and Poseidon, which is a great opening if Ms. Eden decides to write about them. My only complaint, and I always feel this way with short stories, is that there wasn’t enough time for the romance. It felt like it was a wham bam thank you ma’am and then you get the HEA. I would love to see more of this world and definitely would like to see more pages in these books.

Ms. Eden is great writer and I recommend this short for a light quick read as well as her The Fallen series which is one of may faves.

ARC Review: Howl For It by Shelly Laurenston and Cynthia Eden

Howl For It
by Shelly Laurenston and Cynthia Eden
(Pride # 0.5)

Finally an anthology you will want to sink your teeth into!  I had a great time reading this book, even though it's two short stories.  It was fast, had me laughing and was also sexy.  Great reading!

Like a Wolf with a Bone by Shelly Laurenston - 4.5 Stars

It's no secret that Shelly Laurenston has been my go to author for fun and sexy for the past 3 years, since I discovered her books.  Her Pride series is one of my favorite shifter series still to date and I was so very excited to get a short story!  Well, I admit it's been a while since I read the books so I couldn't quite remember who Eggie was.  Then as soon as I started reading I thought it was great that she gave him a book.  Eggie is the crazy uncle that is really good at killing things.  He is also Dee-Ann Smith's father (from Big Bad Beast).  We go back in time in the Pride series and this story reads as a prequel to the whole series.  The Smith clan has always been crazy and Eggie maybe a little scary, but seeing him falling in love with Darla Mae was just adorable.  He's tough and probably the most feared wolf around.  She's smart and quiet and you would think a delicate flower.  When her life is in danger, he takes it upon himself to protect her.  Of course keeping her safe means keeping her close to him.  And yes, the get close and hot and heavy.  But what I loved the most about this story was the fact that knowing how Eggie is (from the future) it was so nice to see that sweet and cuddly side of him, how he melted for his woman and gave in to her every whim even though he's such a big tough guy.  And lets not forget funny.  This short story was laugh-out-loud hilarious while being very sweet and sexy.  Here are some of my favorite quotes:

"What's so funny...wait.  That was a laugh, wasn't it? I'm still trying to learn your different grunts."

"Just don't get in my way, and I won't have to kill any of ya.  I hate upsettin' Momma and all."

"Stop glaring at everyone Eggie Ray."
"I'm not.  I'm only glaring at the men staring at your legs."

"I'm not going to let you ruin our beautiful day by killing three men and burying them in the woods.  I won't allow it."

"I hate Lynyrd Skynyrd. It's my Alabama cousins who like 'em."

Wed or Dead by Cynthia Eden - 4 Stars

I'm not sure if this was supposed to be part of a series as Cynthia writes a few sexy wolves but I thought this story stands alone perfectly.  Even though this story still has some funny moments, there was a lot more action and suspense than in the first one.  Kayla is part of a group of hunters (humans) and her job was to pretend to be in love with and marry Gage, the wolf alpha.  Little does she know that Gage knew all along what she was but wanted to be with her anyway because she's his mate.  Kayla also has issues in her past as it was a wolf who killed her parents and why she now joined the hunters.  But everything she thought she knew is about to change and the truth has to come out.  Gage was hot and sexy, as you can expect with an alpha wolf shifter.  Posessive and intense.  He wanted Kayla and he never backed down from his plan to have her, one way or another.  I really enjoyed seeing things through Kayla's eyes and slowly realizing how she had been lied to and that her feelings for Gage were too strong to be denied.  Capture, betrayals and pack conflict, this story had a bit of everything and it was a great suspenseful read.  If this is part of a series, then believe me I'll be reading it.  I would like to know more about Kayla's brother to start with.

ARC Review: Angel Betrayed by Cynthia Eden + GIVEAWAY

Angel Betrayed
by Cynthia Eden
(The Fallen # 2)

I have fallen deeper in love with the Angels in Ms. Eden's books. This second installment in The Fallen series is even better then the first. It has everything I expected and wanted.

The story continues with the battle between good and evil. Unfortunately, the Angels who are in charge to know the difference are not allowed to their own opinion. Some will bend or go against the rules and become a Fallen.

Sammael has been a fallen Angel for Centuries. He is feared by demons, humans and disliked by his ex-angel buddies. Rightly so as Sam had become rogue and committed the ultimate sin, kill. If remember Angel Betrayed (book 1), Sam had a big part in that story helping Keenan and Nicole get their HEA. And now, it’s his turn to finally get what he deserves. We also meet Seline O’shaw in Angel Betrayed. Not a big part but she made her presence known. She was the demon dancer that Sam was fascinated with. She had given him some information and now demands a boon in return. In this book, she definitely gets the favor she wanted.

I was engrossed from the beginning until the end. The plot not only included a good romance but it was suspenseful and action packed. I loved Sam and Seline’s story and I feel like the truly belonged together. Both lost and lonely, they finally found someone they can trust. And this surprised me but Seline actually turned out to be a kick ass heroine. She was sort of needy in the beginning but was able to redeem herself in a grand way. And Sam, well, let’s just say Ms. Eden knows how to deliver a true Alpha to drool over.

Well done, Ms. Eden, this series had definitely turned out to be a favorite of mine and will be watching for each release date.

Review: Angel of Darkness by Cynthia Eden

Angel of Darkness
(The Fallen # 1)
by Cynthia Eden

Cynthia Eden’s fascinating world of fallen angels is downright addictive. I was intrigued with the characters and enthralled with the story.

In this world of Angels, Demons, Wolves and humans, no one is immune to any emotions. However, Angels specifically are impervious to any feelings. They live to serve and execute duties as told. They took lives, as would a grim reaper, to bring death and take souls.

Unfortunately, a few will sway from the norm and will fall. Keenan is one of them, a fallen angel. Unable to help himself he had judged and decided to take the wrong soul. His last charge was destined to die by the hands of a vampire who intended to rape, drink and kill her. Because of his transgression, he had set a series of events that was never meant to be. And his punishment is to live on earth without his wings.

Nicole St. James is a schoolteacher who did everything by the rules. But sh*t always happens and well, the last incident just changed her life. She became a creature she never thought existed. To survive, she had to abandon the rules she was used to, sinned and continue to live the best she can.

It is obvious why this fallen angel disobeyed his one sacred duty. Keenan didn’t know it but it was apparent that it was because of his lust and love for Nicole. This book reminded me of the movie City of Angels with Meg Ryan and Nicolas Cage, a story of an angel’s forbidden love for a human being. However, Ms. Eden’s fallen angel is nowhere close to Nicolas Cage but more like Chris Hemsworth. Keenan looked like "..the best sin.." I've ever imagined. As I thought of Chris as Keenan, I fell deeply in love him. It wasn’t just his looks but because he was pure and innocent of his feelings. It was romantic, how he would seek her out and how much he is willing to give up for her.

Trust is a big thing for Nicole but because they were in a midst of fighting for their lives, she was left with little choice but to grant it. Don’t get me wrong, Keenan rose to the occasion of earning that trust and it brought out the alpha in him. Although, Keenan is a virgin, their love making was intense and not one to miss. This virgin angel is all kinds of yummy!

The sub plot about the wars between the factions are interesting. You can feel all the bad blood between the Angels, promising a lot if drama and excitement.. Azrael and Sammael are two Angels to watch out for. Second installment to this series is to release mid this year and I cannot wait to meet more of the angels.

Review: Bound by Blood by Cynthia Eden

Bound by Blood
by Cynthia Eden
Paranormal Romance

This was a pretty quick read and the story actually was pretty well developed for a short story. Basically there's an open portal allowing demons to escape hell and they're coming after vampires and shifters.

Jace, leader of the shifter pack, has wanted and been in love with the vampire princess Morgan for a long time, and he sees this as the opportunity to finally have her. He offers the vampires an alliance against the demons if they give him Morgan. She is to become his blooded mate.

Of course things are not always as simple as they seem, the vampires think to use the shifter to close the portal.

There's more betrayal ahead, quite a bit of hot sex, even though it seems Morgan's connection to Jace was too instant for my taste. Lust at first sight?

But I did find this a bit boring. For a short story, it took me a long time to finish reading it because I always kept putting it down and reading something else.
