ARC Review: Gold Digger by Aleksandr Voinov

Gold Digger
by Aleksandr Voinov

Nikolai Krasnorada works for a gold explorations company. Sent to Toronto to snag a deal with LeBeau Mining, Nikolai meets Henri LeBeau, the son to the businessman that holds all the answers. Outside of the corporate world, Nikolai is somewhat struggling with his identity. He has never been with a man before, but undeniable pulses of pleasure are what he feels whenever he is with Henri. GOLD DIGGER is a story that brings forth the drama of the corporate world into the bedroom.

While I usually am head over heels with Voinov’s books, GOLD DIGGER didn’t hit me as hard this time. I enjoyed the story and how Nikolai slowly came into himself, yet I don’t think this book quite had the chemistry I was looking for. The sex is explicit and intense, but I felt as if everything was happening a little too fast. This is a shorter book so I think that played into the pacing issue, but I wished that the author explored more of the emotions behind what Nikolai felt. I would have loved to see him war with his emotions about his actions a bit more. For someone who is going to be with a guy for the first time, he simply jumped in a little too quickly without really testing the waters. Nevertheless, I did enjoy Nikolai and Henry together. Voinov simply writes some of the best M/M erotica out there. I’ll be looking forward to reading more of his work.

Review: Country Mouse by Amy Lane and Aleksandr Voinov

Country Mouse
by Amy Lane and Aleksandr Voinov

I read the blurb for this and I thought it sounded cute so I decided to give it a try.  Well, I am actually surprised of how much I liked it.  Normally short stories are hard to do and even harder is when you throw in the love at first sight in 80 pages or less.  Usually doesn't work for me.  But these two talented authors managed to get me into this story so much I could see past the jumping into love too soon because it fit with the characters.

Owen is on vacation in London with his best friend, who happens to be his ex-girlfriend.  She leaves him alone for one night because she managed to hook up with a guy and is going to get a little some on the side.  This leaves Owen to face London by himself and he ends up in the most disgusting pub where he meets Malcolm.  Malcolm is smooth and sophisticated, extremely hot, and very forward.  He sees Owen and goes in for the kill right away.  Good thing Owen was comfortable with his sexuality being that he's bi and has already been in a relationship with a guy before.

A bit of the jock and the banker, Malcolm likes to play as a Dom and be hard core.  Owen is so in tune to Malcolm that he knows what he really needs and gives it to him.

I think this worked so well because Owen is the type of guy that doesn't sleep around without getting his feelings involved.  He puts so much value in being a couple, now and in the past.  This attitude softens Malcolm almost from the beginning.  I think Owen was the perfect guy to break through Malcolm's hard mask.

Yes, in the end you could say the love and HEA is a bit rushed because who can possibly want to make life altering changes after less than a week with a person, but I could definitely see their relationship going in that direction so it didn't bother me as much.

This was a sexy, fun and great fast read!

ARC Review: Dark Soul by Aleksandr Voinov

(more like 4.5 feathers!)
Dark Soul: The Complete Collection
(Dark Soul #1-5)
by Aleksandr Voinov

When I picked up this book, I had no idea what I was in for. Shocking and seductive doesn’t seem to cover it. My eyes were glued to the pages and I became an addict on crack. Damn, it was good.

Stefano Marino is at the top of his game. As a mob boss, he has power, money and everything a man could ever want. But when a turf war threatens to knock him off his top spot, Silvio Spadaro is sent in to help Stefano.

Instantly, readers can see the sparks between Stefano and Silvio. However, while Silvio is gay despite the stigma that comes along with it, Stefano still wears the wedding ring that binds him to his beautiful wife, Donata. Stefano’s feelings are in a tug-of-war match as his tries to rein in this dark desire for Silvio even though he is still madly in love with his wife.

But that’s not Stefano’s only problem. The Russians want blood and they will go everything and anything to prevail. There’s a good amount of violence in this book. Paired with the explicit sex, there’s this darkly addictive nature to this book that I gobbled up.

Some of the sex scenes straddle the lines of decorum and I think that’s why I enjoyed it so much. Voinov does not pull his punches. His writing is intensely hot and pushes you out of your comfort zone. I’d be surprised if someone said that this is tame. If anything, this book will open your eyes and make you think outside of the box.

DARK SOUL is a thrilling ride from start to finish. Shocking and darkly seductive, it left me breathless after some scenes.
